I have 3, a 5 quart oval and a 5 quart round (which for a home cook would be considered the large model or even a standard model, but you can buy even bigger ones, 9Q and 12Q even). I like those 2 for making bread, stews, curries, braising protein, making stock, frying, you name it, you can make it with those 2 shapes. One is Lagostina and the other is CuisineArt.

The other one I have that I quite enjoy is a this little guy, great for doing meatballs, shallow braises and anything I want to do with the larger pots, but in a smaller amount.

The most versatile one to get would be the 5Q round and you don't actually need to get Le Creuset or any fancy french brand iron pots. While Le Creuset is amazing (my mom has a 9Q oval from the early 60s and it's still looking great), I do find them a little over priced. Both my Lagostina and CuisineArt are holding up just as well (and I even use them more because of the size) and they cost 1/3rd of the price, and they can usually go on sale even less. I got 1 of them at Winners (Marshall's if in the US) for I think 70$ while I paid almost 350$ for the smaller Le Creuset. Look around, a lot of stores sell them now for a reasonable price. I hope this helps.
