Not that your solution doesn't work, but Le Creuset also does sell metal replacement knobs that are meant for their dutch ovens.

I was worried about my plastic knob on my dutch oven, so I bought a Le Creuset metal replacement knob (linked below, no affiliate, I promise!). Don't despair if you're a grocery store person like I am without a Le Creuset, because it's a standard size knob. Maybe that would be helpful for you?
