I carry the Leatherman Wave. It's great because it does what I need it to.

Like /u/ParksVS said, I love it because you don't have to open the entire tool to access the blade(s), saw or file.

The sheath is also very good quality and allows for driver extension storage. You can also store the Wave opened up facing down so it's plier-ready utilizing with the hole in the bottom of the Sheath.

Plus, driver bits and plenty of warranty voiding Wave "hacks".

I suppose if cost is not an issue there's better and more expensive mutlitools out there but hey, it's $53 USD right now.

IT guy here. I have a Leatherman Wave and this bit kit. Hasn't failed me yet.

Actually one downside of the wave is that there's no clip, so I have to keep it in my backpack or pocket.

Those bits are replaceable. If you buy a bit kit they usually come with a spare mini screwdriver bit. If I'm right in assuming all that's wrong here is that the bit snapped in half, then you just need to pull the rest of the old bit out and get a replacement in. Best bet would be to go at it from the exposed section in the middle, then either contact Leatherman to see if they'll replace it or just bite the cost and treat yourself to the full bit kit.

It comes with all the bits, plus the extender which gives you a longer attachment point or just a round handle, as well as a lanyard loop and a pocket clip.

I always bring a few items to every show I do to prevent those "oh shoot!" moments:

• Leatherman Wave- I love this multitool. I'd recommend the extra bit kit as well. It all fits in the included sheath.
  
• Sound Tools Sniffer Sender, available in many flavors.
  
• Electronics tool kit, any brand with a similar assortment of bits will do.
  
• QBox, as others have mentioned. It is so incredibly useful and while it is pricey, there is no alternative that I'm aware of that will do what it does and saves my ass like it does.
  
• SD Card 16-32GB, as well as a 64GB flash drive for last minute file transfers. Be careful what format you choose for the flash drive- pick something that will work across as many computers/mixers/recorders as possible. Research what gear you use and see what format they accept. As a rule of thumb, don't store vital or long term files on the SD card because it will likely get formatted for every use because each device is different.
  
• Backup battery pack for charging phones (10,000 mAh+) – this works well for powering many 5v items like converters and some small DA's
  
• Gender benders- Male to Male, Female to Female
  
• Ibuprofen - more of a "gig bag" item than a WTF kit item, but I always bring some with me in a small travel size pill container.
  
• Head Lamp. It is so useful to have. When I don't need it, I hang it around my neck if my kit isn't nearby.
  
• Batteries in dedicated caddy. I keep half and half alkaline and Ikea LADDA rechargeable AA's as well as 4 9v cells with me.
  
• One or two backpack rain covers. One for my pack, and one for a small piece of equipment on stage that needs to covered in a hurry. The elastic around the outside helps it stay secured.
  
• Phone charger and additional USB cables. I bring two Lightning cables for my Apple devices, but I also bring a USB Mini B and USB Micro B just in case.

That's awesome man! One of my very first preps was buying a Leatherman Wave. I have since bought a second. One I keep on my belt during the day, and one I keep in my car.

I also have a set of these for each of my Waves. Indispensable -- I use them constantly!

Wiha Tools makes the best micro screwdriver bits around, and some of their products are available on Amazon. If I were in your shoes I'd buy this

My personal solution is to keep a Leatherman Wave with a Leatherman pocket clip in my EDC backpack along with a Leatherman Bit Kit that I've modified with a Nite Ize pocket clip and some gorilla tape. Anytime I need to do some screw driving I just clip the wave and bits onto my pocket and they're incredibly accessible.

Kingston DTSE9 - Small little metal 16GB USB drive that's meant to go on your keys. I've had mine for 3 years and I love it. It's gets this really nice beaten-up, stonewashed finish after rubbing on your keys for awhile. You can see how small it is on my keys here.

Fenix E12 - Compact single AA flashlight that is a great size for putting in your pocket/bag. I have the previous model, the E11, and I love it. Fairly bright for a single AA.

Leatherman Bit Set - I just recently bought this for myself, and it's amazing. I have a Leatherman Wave and a Skeletool CX which use Leatherman bits; some of the lower end Leathermans don't use these. This comes with torx, phillips, flat, hex, and small eyeglass bits.

Solar Panel Cell Phone Charger - I keep this exact model in my backpack with a 6" USB cable. It's basically just a small solar panel with a USB port. Really nice build quality for the price, and it works great. It can charge my phone twice without needing to be charged via computer or sunlight.

I think all of this is under $80 cumulatively.

I'm not sure what version you've got, but if you have the one with interchangable screwdriver bits? I'd recommend getting a bit kit

I also bought my brother one as a gift for Christmas in 2010, he doesn't use his as much as I have used mine, but still has it and in great shape after 7 years of camping/hiking and like me, he also uses it for quads.

It is a bit expensive, I'm seeing about $120 for the whole set on amazon right now, I think I payed about $65 for my set. But let me tell you, I would no questions asked buy a new one at full price if the one I had breaks or was lost. I have put some abuse on this little tool, and no doubt it has more than payed for itself many times over.
