If you're just starting out there's not any good way to really start in on cost savings. IMO you should buy as little as possible to see if you like the hobby and get out.
The cost savings in .357 mag are immediate and it's a good way to get used to the practice. Pick one of these up (and a manual!) and a scale and calipers and you're good to go to start loading on your cost savings.
