I'm not sure I understand what a "plain literal Hermeneutic" is. A google search returns this post as the top link and a bunch of dispensationalist blogs. In any case, if it is something that leads people to conclude that Jesus was lying it sounds dangerous to me. It makes me think of my biggest objection to Ken Ham.

From the rest of your post, it sounds like you've got at least a decent helping of the cage stage. Have you read Letters to a Young Calvinist yet? If not, you really should.
