Linus Tech Tips tried out some of the Amazon Basics keyboards and mice and felt they really didn't stand up compared to other affordable stuff. I'd definitely consider spending a little more on the bits of the PC he's actually physically interacting with (especially as this build is so under budget. FWIW, the actual PC's performance should be great for his needs. If you want to keep them really low price then this combo should meaningfully improve on the basic's combo in features and comfort for an extra $10 dollars (unless he has larger hands in which case the mouse might be too small for him.) https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-MK345-Wireless-Combo-Right-Handed/dp/B00QXT5T3U/ref=sr_1_1?fst=as%3Aoff&qid=1555933311&rnid=172456&s=computers-intl-ship&sr=1-1

I have not gone very deep into this search though. What I'd suggest is that you do that yourself WITH your father as each device feels better or worse depending on whose hand it's in.

My wife took to mouse and keyboard like it was nothing. I have a lot of trouble with it outside of RTS/MMO etc. I grew up with a controller though and she only had a few years of muscle memory to retrain.

If you have to sit far away from your computer just pick up a cheap Logitech or Microsoft wireless USB keyboard, nothing fancy. You can pull that off for under $30.00 on Amazon. If you sit closer try a wired set and it might be a bit cheaper + no batteries.

The lapdocks and such you see advertised by Razor, Logitech, Corsair etc. are expensive. Don't buy one if you don't know if you'll stick to a keyboard setup. You can get the "feel" for mouse and keyboard just fine on a plain old setup and spring for better stuff when sales come along if you want to stick with it.

For setup and end table and chair might do for a temporary/trial period. I've used a chair and living room table to play PC games on my TV downstairs. Obviously, much easier if you game at a desk.

Here is a couple suggestions:

Anyone got any recommendations for an office build?

I'm planning on getting [this monitor](https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Marketing-Led-Lit-Monitor-U4919DW/dp/B07KMQT7DB). i have [this keyboard & mouse too](https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-MK345-Wireless-Combo-Right-Handed/dp/B00QXT5T3U)

I'd rather get a prebuilt because it's easier and more convenient. I spend a lot of my time working with chrome and having many tabs open. I've heard that it's very RAM intensive though so should I worry about that?
