I have ordered several of these moss balls from
Amazon and I have had no issues with them. Both my bettas have the large ones. A little brown patch on it is fine, as long as it’s mostly green. You should definitely rinse/squeeze it before adding it to the tank. It’ll have brown water coming out. Just do it until the water coming out is close to clear then add it to your tank. When it’s time for a water change, remove the marimos and rinse/squeeze/shape into sphere and put it back in.
