I don't agree with the Frank McLynn reccomendation. Although I haven't read it, reviews suggest that the author is pro-Marcus, but takes issue with his philosophy and spends a considerable time criticizing it. It's a bit academic and dry but it gives a much more objective representation of Stoicism.
