I taped a Photon 2 to the bottom of the deck like so.
The setup fared very well, there was no rattle or shifting of the light at all.
I had the Nano and wanted to like it, but it kept turning itself on in my pocket and even unscrewed entirely. I've had better luck with this:

I'd probably choose a Leatherman Micra over the Curve as well. I like the Shard though.
You could make a monkey's fist with some paracord and slide the key into the fifth pocket of your jeans. I carry a photon light, a leatherman squirt and a gerber shard on some aircraft cable and a carabiner. I just about something on my keychain besides my keys everyday

Everyday Carry
My smallest set of gear that I always carry in my pockets consists of a knife, keychain, wallet and phone.
Everyweek Carry
In addition to my EDC, my near-equally used Everyweek Carry offers more functionality and is typically carried in a Chrome Citizen which has an asinine phrase painted on the front.
Additionally carrying a Maxpedition Micro Organizer and old camera case on the front strap.
In Organizers
The small, handy things that I need for one reason or another every couple days.
In bag
All items shown fit into the provided pockets, which means the primary compartment is devoted to the small number of day to day items (eg hoodie, purchased goods, lunchbox from work, toiletries, MacBook Air, etc) that are easily swapped and unloaded.
Specific Bundles
I keep each of these groupings bundled together so in oft-repeated cases, I can pack and leave quick.
Computer hardware when needed
Toiletries
Both overnight and long-term

I'd up it to a Photon II. I've had one for years and they are great. Mine has a slide switch so it will stay on without squeezing it.
Flashlight, specifically a photon 2.
This is a fun idea.
Assuming you carry a separate knife:
Gerber Shard - $6.82
Fenix E01 - $12.73
Total: $19.55
The Shard does so much for so little, and the Fenix is a very reliable, functional flashlight (with the added bonus of using easy-to-replace AAA batteries).
Assuming you don't carry a separate knife:
Leatherman Style CS - $16.79
Generic button cell light - $3-$4 at Walmart or wherever
Total: $20.79 (assuming the $4 price on the button light, it's a little over, but you can probably find one for $3 if you look)
OR
Victorinox Rally - $11.60
LRI Photon II - $8.27
Total: $19.87
This kinda depends on your needs. The Style functions better as a knife than the Rally (in my opinion), and offers essentially the same tools plus a great pair of scissors. But in return, you sacrifice a little in terms of your light. Personally I'd opt for the Style + generic.
Yep - personally, I use one of these because it clips on to my badge holder and is still super bright. I tried a nice penlight at first, but stopped carrying it because I like to have as little in my pockets as necessary. This thing is great because it's always with me (as long as I've remembered my badge lol)
This Photon II is one of the brightest flashlights I've ever used, also, it is tiny. I ordered one of these without knowing much about it and was amazed the first time I turned it on in a dark room.
My favorite keychain light is the Photon II.
This seems like a good solution for you. And not to reply to several of your comments elsewhere:
> if I throw some baind-aids in there do you think they'll hold up?
Very well, actually. I slip some in a thin pocket behind my IDs and they look nearly-new indefinitely.
> convince me why I should include paracord, how much and where I should attach it
6' back left pocket. Doesn't take up much space, much more usable than a paracord lanyard, a pocket you're probably not over packed yet.
Also keep in mind that in certain states it against the law not to tell police officers you are in possession of a handcuff key when you are getting arrested.
i found this on amazon. it looks flimsy, but has the basic design in mind. i dont need it to have a clip, i have velcro tape instead. the first two you showed me seemed a bit big.
I guess it depends on how much bulk you are willing to add to your keychain. I'm a big fan of the LRI Photon 2. Very small, very light weight and very reliable. Though I need try the newer Photon 2 Pro which is more water resistant and uses an electronic switch.
