I'd say you got out relatively well, considering how pricey the Surface Pro line is to begin with.

My SP3 is an i5 w/ 4.00GB RAM and a 128GB SSD, so your i7 & extra SSD space alone makes up for the ~$300 difference - but I was really hesistant to get the i7 line, because the cheapest one when I bought mine (about two months ago) on Swappa was around $600, and I already have an ASUS Ultrabook with similar specs to the highest-spec SP3 model - so I decided to save myself a bit a money, especially since my general use for it so far has been journaling and note-taking.

I did want to eventually try doing my photoshop/photo-editing on it and maybe venture into digital art, but I figure the i5 can at least handle photoshop being open by itself.

The SP3 Pen IS nice, but my only regret is perhaps not just getting a SP4 or Surface Book outright - since the SP3 does have the pressure sensitivity level and activation force limits of 250 and 9g respectively for the newest pens. I'm probably gonna get either the SP4/Surface 2017 pen, but I've heard good things about the Bamboo Ink too.

Glad to know the newer type cover is worth the upgrade, the trackpad on the SP3 cover still wigs me out a bit but it's thankfully not as terrible as the original Surface type-cover with that cloth shit.

Minimum requirements are intel HD 3000 and I believe the one your rocking is using the intel HD 5000 chip.
