It comes with a proper charger. The marketing you see relates to charging mobile devices over usb. Personally I have no use for such things, especially if the decision is between getting the job done or internetting with what battery I have left.
I have used these before. The barrel connector on the side is regulated to 12VDC. I have even disassembled them, thru bolted them directly things and then reassembled.

A cordless grinder or circular saw is going to have a MUCH higher inrush current than a cpap. I think this is worth trying - it would be better with an 18-20v battery, but this can work with 12v also. Get one of these or the version for the 12v and the correct banana plug and you have discharge protection and connections to the battery already worked out. People are using these in other DIY applications already so I don't think you'll have any signal negotiation to work out.
