Nice clean build!

Do you have a link to the post? I am wanting to create a wireless Chromecast audio receiver with 3.5mm out to link up with my stereo set up.

I'm guessing you used the female hdmi dongle right?

How does the dongle support powering the chromecast without adaptation? Looks like you have adapted it yourself? Sorry about the barrage of questions :)

I've used this one (now $13):

The variant I have works. The audio out works too. Just plug in your speakers and turn off digital digital plus.

This is the one I have.

Edit: it may not fit properly since you have a plasma might have a different resolution then newer TVs so it may not look as great as it would and 720 or 1080 P model. I tried it on the projector.

Edit: corrected product link

For one of my Chromecasts -- I also got this HDMI Female to VGA w/ Audio Adapter plugging into my surround sound.

Now I have a pretty great wireless speaker solution for the house for about $50.

I use Chromecast along with this, Ignore the VGA part, it splits out the audio to a headphone jack you can connect to any old non-hdmi receiver and allows for a very inexpensive networked music solution. We currently have 6 of them all over the house and in the back yard.
