Possible? Yes. You could use a A/B/Y box to combine the signals.

Is it safe? Sure.

Will it sound good? Probably not at higher volumes, as vocal sounds occupy more frequency than a guitar amp typically produces.

My suggestion is to level up to a full-featured PA - this solves all your problems.

What you'd end up with is a stereo cable with a tip/ring/sleeve (stereo) 1/4" jack on one end, and split to two mono 1/4" jacks on the other end. Something like this one.

Then the two mono ends would go into something like this Morley ABY pedal. They'd go in the A and B, take the out from the middle to your PA. You then can switch between the two channels, or have the option to have both summed (though no balance control between the two... you'd need a small mixer to do that...)

What do you mean by "summer" exactly? I suppose this is the pedal you're referring to: http://saturnworkspedals.com/product/summer-mixer-pedal/

What would that do that this doesn't: http://www.amazon.com/ABY-Selector-Combiner-Routing-Switching/dp/B0002D06EU

An ABY switch can also be used... Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/ABY-Selector-Combiner-Routing-Switching/dp/B0002D06EU

Guitar goes into input, output 1 goes to console, output 2 goes to amp. I do this for my PC rig.

Yup, you get your amp sound, and the game still registers the notes and such so you can play along. I go in the audio menu in the game and mute the player 1 guitar so that you just get your amp and the backing track.

I got this one and it works like charm.
