Getting into tea culture and buying authentic clay teapots and whatever is all fine and dandy, but it is not necessary.
I use this this iced tea machine for iced tea in the summer, but I also use it to brew hot tea directly into my 40oz thermos to take to work. If I am just making one cup then I'll use an infuser directly in the mug I am going to drink from.
This is blasphemy for many here but it works just fine.

They have another one (used to be distributed by Oster) that's 2.5 quarts with a glass carafe. I like it. Hasn't leaked yet. I got mine on close out (bought 2!) but they're pricey.
