Don't be fooled. Crypto Miners who OC (which they shouldn't) are trying to get rid of them.

KEEP IN MIND, ASUS 1080 CANNOT TRANSFER WARRANTY.

MSI 1080 CAN transfer warranty.

Just bought one yesterday for 600$, with 3 year warranty, used but it fantastic shape, and on Amazon they are selling them for 2100$ Canadian. Why? I have no idea, maybe because production stopped, or maybe because nobody wants a 2080 .

EDIT: Here's the link regarding actual 2100$ price tag, and the exact same one I have.
Here

The 1080 is an expensive graphics card, like $700 expensive. The premise of the video is that he is somehow stuck inside some vertical silo while holding the card. Like a monkey who gets his hand trapped because he refuses to let go of the prize, the man is trapped and unable to climb out because he refuses to let go. He foolishly values the material object more than his own life. Then his friend says that he has just received a better graphics card, at which point he agrees to let go and walks up the wall thanks to sideways gravity. Turns out the camera is just turned sideways and he's lying down in a drain pipe. He's not actually stuck in a silo with a computer part, it's just a cool forced perspective optical illusion with a storyline that's a modern twist on an old tale. That's the joke.

Hey everyone, I was hoping to get feedback on which GPU I should get. Reason why I’m buying it on Amazon is because I have a gift card that I’ve been wanting to use, also this will be my first build. I’m looking into to grab one of the following options.

  1. EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FTW2 GAMING, 8GB GDDR5, iCX Technology - 9 Thermal Sensors & RGB LED G/P/M, Asynch Fan, Optimized Airflow Graphics Card 08G-P4-6775-KR https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B076RT2ZVV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fwkUBb1VMDTDF

  2. ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Graphics Card (STRIX-GTX1080-8G-GAMING) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GRRRW0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uLkUBb06CHK9D

  3. MSI GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X 8G Video Card 8GB GDDR5X 256-Bit PCI Express SATA HDMI/DVI-D/3xDisplayPort Retail https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GLYD7MG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WLkUBbVEWRNY4

It's $610, it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GLYD7MG

If you wanna try, PM me your phone number and we can get on support with Amazon together.

I'm taking this chance for a beautiful GTX 1080!

Massive thread from RAoG OP. Why did that die?

I don't know about the best, the only differences between cards I can think of are thermals, overclockability, quality and aesthetics.

My MSI 1080 Gaming X after being watercooled doesn't drop from 2025MHz in games and I can overclock it to 2114MHz and 11286MHz memory. It hits its power limit at 2012MHz in furmark and currently sits at 43C(in furmark if that wasn't clear enough, idle is 22C) with an ambient of 20C. The factory dual fan cooling should be good enough and it comes with LED lights. Goes for $619.90 in Amazon and has an extra $20 off after rebate.

Reason I ask is that I looked at the comparisons and the 1080 seemed comparable but the 1080 has just a little better performance.

BTW - I always like to buy my Video Cards on Amazon with Prime Shipping. If there is a problem with compatibility, it's an easy return. New Egg charges restocking fees and you have to pay freight back.

This one is $500.00

If you paid around $450.00 then you did good. At same price I'd go with the Nvidia over the AMD.

I Have a MSI Gtx 1080 Duke and am very happy with it. MSI has a 3 year from date of manufacture warranty too.

I do wish you the best of luck with the AMD. Just my experience with Linux is that you never want to buy the newest technology, it takes awhile for the right drivers to filter down to Linux.

That's awesome, thanks for your input I appreciate it! I found the GTX 1080 on amazon, I should be able to trust it right? Its not directly sold from Amazon, but everything should be fine about me buying it right? 570 is still quite a chunk of change and I just want to be careful!

u/HentaiGodGG · 2 pointsr/buildapc

In terms of brands EVGA, ASUS and MSI are the ones I'd recommend.

ASUS

EVGA

MSI

Edit: If I had to recommend a specific card I'd choose the ASUS ROG STRIX

When on a product page, you need to click on "see all buying options", and then look at the "seller information" column and find the line with Amazon being the seller.

For example on Amazon US, the page of GTX 1080 MSI Gaming X doesn't seem to list Amazon as a potential seller.
Several third-party sellers ship their product through Amazon (potentially including Prime shipping), so maybe that give them a higher level of credential than your "typical" third-party seller.

If you need to order from Amazon across the world though (German amazon to ship to the US for example), be ready to pay a noticeable amount in shipping/custom fees.

u/GhettoCricket · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

So right now MSI GTX 1080's are 655$ on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GLYD7MG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) , is this a good deal or should I wait later into the holiday season to try and get it for a lower price?

u/m0gul6 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I thinking this card, what do you think?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GLYD7MG/

u/Duckapple · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfGaming

Wow, no restrictions... That's a wild giveaway! Congrats on winning at the stock market too, and thanks for the opportunity.

Now, if you draw me, could I please have a MSI GTX 1080? I'm planning to build a new computer as my old one signed out a week ago, and with the graphics card home I'd be able to see myself come to the end with a build.

Thanks a bunch again for the opportunity!

u/Br00dl0rd · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfGaming

Congratz! :)

People requesting some insane shit haha :p

I'd like a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X

Thanks!

u/PurelyFire · 1 pointr/buildapc

If I could make a recommendation, id recommend an aftermarket card instead of the founders edition for your 1080. For example, this card is about 40-50$ cheaper, will run quieter, cooler, and have improved performance compared to the founders edition cards! Founders edition tends to run quite hot compared to 3rd party cards, I think it'd slightly improve your build.

u/kryish · 1 pointr/buildapc

amazon is selling the 1080 at msrp right now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GLYD7MG/

u/TheLambyLambDance · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is it this one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GLYD7MG/ref=twister_B01LAYLFFS?_encoding=UTF8&th=1. How come it is cheaper than some 1070s and what's the differnces from all the other msi 1080 models listed? (sorry for all the questions)

u/ImmaGrumpyOldMan · 1 pointr/hardwareswap
u/Integralds · 1 pointr/neoliberal

Even then the overlap gets annoying.

EVGA has 1070 Ti variants that sell for anywhere from $410 to $490, and those are just variants on a single underlying GPU. One tier "up," MSI is selling a 1080 for anywhere from $490 to $600. Again there's a $100 range for a single underlying chip.

There are too many underlying cards (11 for Nvidia!) and too many third-party variants, and the prices all just meld into each other until they don't make any sense.

  1. You could consider an air cooler like the NH-D14 or NH-D15 which has the same or better cooling capabilities as the h100i, but is cheaper and much quieter.

  2. That case is nice, but a tad expensive. You could look at the Fractal Design Define R5 or the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M

  3. You should spend an extra 10$ and get the EVGA 650W G2 Gold Certified Fully Modular PSU. Your build doesn't need more watts than 650. Also with fully modular PSU, it will help a lot during cable management.

  4. The MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X is cheaper and runs cooler.
u/Shoxtrem · 1 pointr/PcMasterRaceBuilds

I like the build. Do you think The NVIDIA GTX 1080 works on that motherboard ? Also which country are you browsing from ?
Maybe I'll go 4K do you know good screens ?

edit: I believe you can share each part's product page. If it isn't too much asking.
I also saw the CPU on LDLC (http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00221456.html)
Is this the RAM ? (https://www.grosbill.com/4-kingston_kvr21n15s8_8-682915-informatique-memoire_ddr4)
Don't I also need a SATA for space ?
Is this the (https://www.amazon.fr/Corsair-CP-9020097-EU-VS550-PLUS-Alimentation/dp/B00LMBWSI8) the PSU.
And this is the case (https://www.amazon.com/Tower-Computer-Glossy-Black-CA-S340W-B1/dp/B00NGMIBUU)
tis could be the GPU (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1080-GAMING-3DisplayPort/dp/B01GLYD7MG/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487173061&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+1080)

u/ThatUndeadLegacy · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

A vive with a 660? a 660 can barely run Witcher 3 on minimum. my vote goes to the msi one, never buy founders edition. i can recommend you spend a little extra and get https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1080-AERO/dp/B01GLYD7MG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474404998&sr=8-1&keywords=GTX%2B1080%2BAERO&th=1
As it's the card i have it's really the only thing i can actually recommend, yes i love it.

u/MathiasZealoT · 1 pointr/buildapc

Changed the 1070 for a 1080 that is 30 dollars cheaper (wat) (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1080-GAMING-8G/dp/B01GLYD7MG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8) you think it will work better?

in terms of a red GPU, is this MSI 1080 the best of the best? I don't know much about the PNY, but I'm trying to find a red 1080 that also has decent clock speeds

u/Trizok · 0 pointsr/buildapcsales

There is a Used - Like New one {Item is in original packaging, but packaging has damage} available for 527.24 prime. (Not Sure how much with regular shipping). It might not come with Destiny 2 though. Good deal during these dark times imo. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01GLYD7MG/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Weird, after shipping that is $1000.

Also it doesn't matter most people just say 1080. Calling it a 1080GTX is just incorrect.
