Because those "European alternatives" around here are usually more expensive and there is less choice.

Let's say I want to buy a new GPU: a GTX 1070. I would prefer a Gaming X since I heard they're really quiet.

Alright, let's go. This is a rather known store that sells computer components. They have two listings for a GTX 1070: 609€ out of stock and 649€ in stock. They don't have the one I want.

Okay, let's be smarter. Let's use an aggregator called hv.ee. They have far more cards of different varieties and at more reasonable prices. The trouble is that only one of those has stock. Out of the entire bunch there is only one with stock. It is priced at 649€, the one we looked at in the first store.

Meanwhile amazon.de has that exact same GPU at 482€. The specific GPU I wanted is also available for 541€.

Now this is with just Amazon. They have a bunch of other similar stores (Newegg for instance) in the US that the EU just does not have.

>from pizza to a tv and have it delivered between 20 minutes and 24h at my door

Yeah, I don't live in a big EU country, so it's different here and will likely always be because of regulations.

There is currently a gtx 1070 sale on amazon.fr, making it cost 453€ (shipping to belgium counted) instead of 499€ (shipping not counted).

The Ryzen 1700x also was on sale yesterday (-20€), but it's not anymore unfortunately.

I'd recommend you to grab that 1070 before it's not in sales anymore.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, but I had classes at school all day. Here is a build for you in all Euros.

CPU: $218

MOBO: $119

RAM: $92

SSD: $70

HDD: $40

GPU: $480

OS: $23

Case: $117

PSU: $104

CD Drive: $21

TOTAL: $1284

I realize that this is over your initial budget, but you mentioned that you could add an extra $100. Now for the explanations:

  • I did not change your CPU, but instead just found an actual link.

  • You do not need to buy thermal paste, as your CPU comes with a stock heatsink, which has thermal paste pre-applied.

  • I changed your motherboard to a compatible one, and then changed it again (when making the list in euros) for price reasons. Also keep in mind that Z series motherboards (as in Z97) are meant for overclocking. This is a method of getting better performance from your CPU. However, it requires specialized parts, like a Z series motherboard, and an unlocked CPU (shown with a K as in 6600K). These parts are more expensive. Because of that, I recommend you don’t overclock, which means you do not need the fancy, Z series motherboard. Instead I went with a H170.

  • Because I went with a different motherboard, different RAM was needed.

  • You chose a GTX 970 GPU. I switched it to a 1070. The reason for this is that it is a newer card with better performance. The 9 or 10 in the front shows which series the card is in, and the 70 shows which version of that series it belongs to, with a higher number meaning better performance. So therefore, a 1080 is better than a 1070 or 1060, and a 1070 is better than a 970 or 870.

  • You chose a Fractal Design R4 for your case. This case is the older version. I upgraded it to the R5.

  • Lets talk PSU’s. These can be very confusing. Obviously, you need to pick one that can supply enough watts to power your PC. You did that just fine. However, there are other things to consider. When it comes to PSU’s, not all watts are created equal. Two PSU’s may provide the same amount of power, however be very different in price. The cause of this comes down to the build quality of each. This affects 4 (main) things, noise, reliability, modularity, and efficiency. Hopefully the first 2 are self-explanatory. If a PSU is fully modular, that means that all of the internal cables that attach to your motherboard or GPU or hard drives or whatever can be completely removed from the PSU itself. This is very useful as it allows you to manage them much better. Efficiency means that less of the power you draw from the wall is being lost as heat. This not only reduces your electricity bill, but also means that your PSU will be cooler, creating less heat for your CPU and GPU. Efficacy is rated using the 80+ scale, which you can see here. Because of these 4 factors, I went with a higher-quality PSU.

Hope all of this helps! If you have questions, related or not, feel free to message me!

Its not a fantastic deal as you can get a 1070 with a roughly equivalent cooler for about 400, but £25 is £25. amazon price history for this particular card: http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/MSI-GTX-1070-GAMING-GeForce/product/B01GRCYPE6?context=browse

Unfortunately for what concerns pc parts fiscal stores Italy is a third world country. There are a few of them in a 500km radius and their prices are even higher. The only one Which has a 1070 for €390 is not a very trustworthy one is literally 503 km away e last time i ordered something they lost it the first time and i had to fight to meke so that they resend it (and it was a 50 dollars keyboard) not gonna trust them for such an expense

However thank you for your time, i actually have been following Vega news for over a month but the fact that just to day i have come to know more or less the release date and still don't know prices or specs apart from the 4gb and 8 GB vram versions is kind of depressing. Let's hope.

Thanks for the help and advice, being a complete idiot when it comes to PC would this be the sort of thing most of you are suggesting?

u/Runic_Echoes · 1 pointr/buildapc

Like a 500€ upgrade instead of 600+ i just literally don't know what to get.. 1070 is in a good price range in my opinion. But well is it good with my CPU and a good enough upgrade from a 970

u/ziptofaf · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ouuuuch.... seems that mining prices hit your country just as hard as mine... 3 months ago 530€ would buy you a friggin' GTX 1080... meh.

Still, I would still consider going with a cheap ass case in that case (like Zalman Z1 costs 25€ or so saving you 75€ and it has a set of dustfilters and whatnot), get a cheaper version of this PSU (another 40€), maybe you can find a slightly cheaper SSD (A-Data SU800 Ultimate or Crucial MX300 275GB SATA version for example), you should be able to find a HDD 5-10€ cheaper too. That would give you 40+75+10+5+12 (after getting rid of DVD drive too) = 140 saved or so €. Almost there.. Worth looking if you can get this video card a bit cheaper at another shop.

Considering you are paying in € - have you looked at german/french shops? Amazon does have sanely priced 1070s for example:

https://www.amazon.de/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1070-4K-optimiert/dp/B01GRCYPE6/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1499465385&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1070 (although yes, available in a week).

Wow I can't believe it. MSI 1070 going for under £500 holy shit!

Are there any big differences between the different GTX 1070 cards?
Thinking of buying one of these:
Asus,
MSI or
EVGA

u/Arkinos · 1 pointr/buildapc

Aftermarket GPUs are the ones from MSI,Gigabyte, EVGA, Gainward ect, so they have the chip from Nvidia and keep the pcb or desgin their own with a custom cooling solution.
You had the Founder Edition in your last build list.

This:

Be you should something like this:

From which retailer do you want to buy the gpu?

Amazon fr offers these two for example:

https://www.amazon.fr/MSI-graphique-GeForce-GTX1070-Express/dp/B01GVHNW3W/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1467824444&sr=1-5&keywords=gtx+1070

Edit: Review for the last card, seems very impressive. With overclocking you reach 1080 reference levels!

Saw the review, it's very impressive indeed. On amazon.de it's only 507€, but 3-4 weeks until sent.

u/Sheesidian · 1 pointr/buildapc

Does anyone here know much about this card, the msi GTX 1070 Gaming 8G, which amazon UK has as pre-orderable, like whats the main difference between that card and this msi GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G.

Besides the differences in

  • Cost, £375 vs £430

  • The fact the £375 has a silver (uhhh... cant think of the name for it, where it screws to the backof the pc case, by the hdmi/dp/dvi ports), where as the £430 has a black one

  • And the small difference in clock speed i can see, with the £375 card having a clock speed of 1683/1708/1721 vs the £430 X card with 1683/1771/1797MHz.

Would these lower clocks signify a lower binned chipped with lower overclocking potential?

Would i see any real increase in performance in gaming with the extra ~£55 for the X card, either at stock or OC?
u/Cen92 · 1 pointr/buildapc

That seems kind of expensive. Can you order from somewhere else? I got a MSI 1070 Gaming X model for €460 before the holidays.

Here is a EVGA SC model for 410 GBP
