This I got at Wal-Mart for $5.

Or This. Also from Wal-Mart. The straw is super bendy and long enough to stimulate sucking. The weight at the bottom means he can tip it, turn it, whatever and can still drink from it.

We skipped the bottle (it was wholly rejected and not worth the fight) and got an Avent training sippy labeled 4+ months with silicone tip. We also got a straw cup but it takes work so she gets frustrated.

If you feed milk from it, just be careful as it's fast flow.

Agreed. My son had a hard time with the tip sippy cups or straight down straws because he was constantly holding his cup at a weird angle.

We got these and it made a world of difference. Sucking motion is similar to bfing, and it doesn't matter if the cup is sideways or at an angle, the straw flows with the water.

Sorry for the long link, but this is what worked for my 6 month old. I had to introduce him to a bottle because he wasn't breastfeeding correctly anymore and he hated the normal bottle so this is what we started with and then moved to a normal straw cup by 8 months. We replaced the bottle with a weighted straw sippy cup and kept the rest of the routine the same. I think it was comforting for my son to have that time where he was held and sucking so I still wanted to give him that for a while but in a more age appropriate way. From there we went to a 360 cup after a few months.
