Babyproof the hell out of the room, obviously.

Also, this clock works WONDERS for my 2.5y/o. It turns blue automatically for bedtime and yellow automatically when it's "morning" (whatever times you set), and it has a separate blue nap timer. It took about a week of, "Clock is blue; that means it's night time. Go back to bed, and we'll see you when the clock is yellow!" for him to get it, and now he stays in his room from 8pm-8am happily.

(Then he comes and wakes us up with a cheerful, "The clock is YELLOW!" and he's SO proud of himself, lol.)

We also had a lot of luck using the "Voice of God" (i.e., the microphone thing through the video monitor) -- every time he popped out of bed, we'd tell him without even opening the door to get back IN bed. That only took a couple of days. :)
