This is my favorite type of melatonin: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RC6ZSA

It has not only melatonin, but also L-theanine, chamomile flower extract, passion flower extract and lemon balm leaf extract - all of which are natural sleep aids.

Melatonin is as effective as amitriptyline at preventing migraines. Benadryl is also useful if not directly but by cutting down on other symptoms that increase migraine pain (Benadryl is in section E: helpful add ons).

Obviously, neither of these are specifically for nighttime migraines but unless you like randomly passing out during the day, taking them before bed is a good idea. I’ve taken melatonin in the past and had wacky enough dreams that I felt like I was always awake. When I recently retook it, I’m taking one with l-theanine. That combined with taking one Benadryl has cut back on my remembering of weird dreams (I’m sure they’re still happening). I’ve also had a marked improvement in my number of headache days.

Jesus I thought those were 200 mg pills when I first looked at that bottle! As someone who takes 10mg occasionally, I figured you never slept ever...
