Only thing i can think of that fits. I haven't read it in years but I remember it being pretty good. Definitely wouldn't be on any top 100 lists.

They've put out a LOT of novels. Start here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0451450787

"Never deal with a dragon" and similar phrasing is a recurring theme in Shadowrun, and the cover art of the book with that title is accurately described

Our group had this exact same problem setting-wise. We just had a hard time getting it, so our GM bought us all copies of "secrets of Power", it starts with "Never Deal With a Dragon", and it's the story of a corporate dude that awakens and struggles to find his niche, he starts as a rigger, then goes hacker, then realizes he can't do them because he's Awakened and needs t study Shamanic magic. It's a good intro to every element while also showing you what Seattle is like from every angle, and how a typical Shadowrun should go and how it can go wrong.

The Shadowrun novels, based upon the RPG of the same name, is a blend of Fantasy and Dystopian future (magic resurgent in a corporate-ruled Gibson-inspired milieu). Most of them were written pre-2k, so you'll find most in e-form as PDFs. And, the best place to find the paperbacks is going to be ABEbooks.com

edit: there are over 30 novels starting with Never Deal with a Dragon

Shadowrun is my favorite series (Cyberpunk mixed with Fantasy) and while it's a bit scarce as a digital release almost any used book store will have them for around $3-4 each. With a series of over 30 books it's a ton of content but you can begin where it begins in the Books of Power Trilogy:
