Update:

I ended up buying the YISHDA Battery off amazon (as recommended bu u/PoetmasterGrunthos) and just finished installing it following this Ifixit guide. Currently the phone says it's fast charging with 1 hr 40 min until full.

I did not buy or need replacement back parts and used a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. I was very liberal with the hair dryers use around the back glass and continued applying heat while slowly pulling it off. When re-applying the bottom plastic cover due to the way my phone is dented a little I put curved edges in first and then pressed the center down to get everything to fit.I managed to bend back the other small (but noticeable to me) dent near the volume button's with a combination of pressing down on it and gentle hammering.

I would have included pictures however the 6P is my camera. Overall I can't say it feels like a new phone yet, however it certainly seems like it's charging to it's full capacity. I will update again sometime in the future with longer term results of this battery's life, but for the moment I am happy and can say the procedure is not too difficult.

Do it yourself if you're at all handy, it's pretty easy, all you need is hair dryer or heat gun, some guitar picks, a credit card and a flat blade precision knife (exacto) or similar.

worked great for me right up until my performance cores separated and my 6p went into cold storage as an emergency backup.

Question for you.

I literally just replaced mine today and I'm having trouble getting the phone to boot up. When I installed it, the phone indicated it at 38% charge, but then it dropped and turned off. I was able to turn it back on but it did the same shut down shortly after.

I put it on the charger and now I've tried several times to reboot it with no success yet. What happens is it will go through the google log0 and the android animation, then the phone will vibrate once, make a chime, flash the android logo and then go to black. I've caught a brief glimpse of the homescreen a few times before it completely shut down, so I know something is working.

I've read that sometimes a phone won't accept a new battery right away and needs some time before it gets working properly, but I'm nervous that there's an issue. Have you experienced this at all or heard about it? Should I just keep it on the charger and be patient or should I do a factory reset?

Here's a link to the replacement I bought:

  1. Bought it a few days ago, received today.

  2. I bought it from Amazon here

  3. I used the tools that came with it, plus an exacto knife, playing cards, and a hairdryer.

  4. The only minor issue is that I bent the plastic piece at the bottom pulling it off while the glue was still pretty tight. I wish I had taken a little more time and been more careful. It would have been easier if I had a chisel exacto knife instead of a standard - with a standard exacto knife, I had to push down at an angle to get the blade flat to the edge, and it took a while to figure out just how far to push down. Also, I kept accidentally turning on the phone, which didn't seem to cause a problem, but freaked me out.

  5. So far, battery life looks to be about 4 hours of SOT from 1, which seems good. In hindsight, the battery manufacturer recommended leaving the phone off and charging for 12 hours, so maybe I should have done that.

  6. NA.

  7. Other tips - Take your time and it's not that bad. Watch a video until you have a fairly good idea where the display cable is under the battery, so you can stay away from it while getting the battery out.

  8. Not sure if it has a temperature monitor, but probably not.

  9. The replacement cable matches the narrow photo in the OP link, although I thought looked just like the one in my phone. It fit fine but not perfectly, so there was a little tiny bit of slack when I put the phone together.

This is the one I bought and found that I didn't even need a few of the items. Here is the camera glass cover

An X-ACTO or other utility knife along with a playing card (used a Joker to not mess up my other cards lol) was also useful.

  3. See link it includes tools, in addition to that I used a craft knife (to get underneath the bottom and camera panels) a card (to remove glue under battery) and a hair dryer

  4. Battery ribbon was slightly longer, as mentioned in Amazon reviews u can kind of just fold it

  5. Great, 105% accubattery after a couple days use. Charging is slower though.

  6. N/a

  7. If you use a hair dryer heat it for a really long time (couple mins) I'm pretty sure it's not as effective as a heat gun as the glue wasn't always melting well if I didn't heat it for a while. And as others have mentioned when removing the glue from under the battery, becareful of the black ribbon (see YouTube videos) you can potentially rip it.

  8. No

  9. Thin cable
