Crap - I was just about order another one :-(
EDIT: Still available from Asus/Amazon.
Its a great deal.
Don't updates its OS past 4.4.4 KitKat. Android L will make the N72012 damn near unusable. Marshmallow OTA isn't available for the 2012, but last I checked you can find it online.
Likely, the first thing that will fail on it is the USB port (in a year or two). To reduce the number of times you have to plug it in, get one of these docks LINK. You're going to want to shop around - $70 is outrageous.
I really like the OEM dock.
I just bought one on amazon last week for $30 - in fact I learned it existed on this sub when mine stopped charging as well. It was cheaper than the replacement port, which was about $55. The day after I bought it, the price jumped to $69, and is $43 today... Not sure why the fluctuations, but I would check everyday.
EDIT: OP, today it's back to $30 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009UQZPA0?pc_redir=1406626090&robot_redir=1
The official ASUS Nexus 7 dock
The first Nexus 7 has pogo pins. http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-7-2012-Docking-Station/dp/B009UQZPA0
still available on AMAZON for $29.99... and although it hides the pogo pins this COVER is absolutely great
I wouldn't read too much into it. It's still available through other retailers, as well. http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-The-Official-Nexus-Dock/dp/B009UQZPA0/
