Nike apparel is definitely some of the better looking stuff that you can wear as a runner. However, when it comes to the shoes do not buy what you think looks the coolest. Get a running gate analysis at your local running shoe store and buy a shoe that will fit your running form. A neutral shoe like the Nike Free can be terrible for you legs especially if you pronate. Running in a shoe that doesn't give your feet enough support could result in shin splints that could easily cut your track season short. So don't be afraid to look at Saucony, Brooks, Mizuno, or Asics. You can always get a pair of Nike Frees for casual shoes but you are going to need a little more stability and support in the shoe that you run in everyday.

Aside from your normal everyday running shoes Nike makes some pretty kick-ass products. Try to go to a Nike Outlet or your local running store to look for some other clothes that you like too. Some of the stuff they have in the store is even better than what you can find online.

Here are some clothes that I think would make you look much more professional than your average high school track athlete who only wears basketball shorts or sweatpants and T-shirts or hoodies when they run.

PANTS
Nike Element Thermal Running Pants
These pants are top notch. They are my favorite thing to run in when it's cold out. I'm not really a tights person so I stick to these pants. They are slim and taper really well so they look great. If you feel the need to buy a pair of tights I would suggest going to a store and trying a pair on because running tights are definitely a hit or a miss.

COMPRESSION SHORTS
Nike also makes great compression shorts but I can't seem to find any online right now. It might be because it's winter but you should definitely check out your local running store and see if you can find some nice ones. They would most likely be called Nike Black Tech Men's Dri-Fit Compression Shorts. The important thing with compression shorts is that they don't have big logos on them. At least in my state people who raced in compression shorts with big logos or writing on them would get disqualified. That's why the Nike Pro Combat series probably wouldn't be worth your money, unless you want to race with compression shorts under racing shorts, but people look way more official when they run in just racing shorts or just compression shorts.

RACING SHORTS
As for racing shorts I would suggest that you buy the shortest pairs that you can get your hands on. From what I can find online the Nike 2" Tempo Split is probably your best choice. Running shorts are the greatest part of being a runner! They are super comfortable and you can get so low in them! Wearing short shorts also will help give you golden legs that every man and woman in the world dream of having. That's why I would suggest going all out with the shorts. Gets some of these and wear them as a fashion statement. Run your workouts in them, mow your lawn in them, go to the beach in them, or just play with your cat and/or dog in them.

OUTERWEAR
A lot of Nike's outer wear is really over priced so I'd suggest buying a Nike Element Half-Zip it's only $65 as opposed to some of the other stuff they sell that's upwards of $300. If it's really cold out, layering is key. When your running, even on the coldest days your not going to need much more than two layers, which would be that half zip and a shirt underneath it.

SINGLETS
When it starts to warm up I would also recommend buying a Nike Miler Singlet these are great all around. You will probably have your schools uniform and jersey to wear during races but having a couple of these to run in when you are not racing definitely looks cool.

SOCKS
Socks probably aren't that big of a deal but you can wear Nike Midclaf socks and look like a stud at practice. I usually race in Nike's Racing Socks but honestly the socks don't make that big of a difference. The important thing is that they prevent blisters.

SPIKES
Nike makes some of the best racing shoes in the world, both aesthetically and functionally. If you are a distance runner which in high school is anything 800 meters and up I'd suggest that you buy a new pair of Victories. They are as good as it gets for distance runner track spikes. When you step up to the line at any big race at least 4 out of 5 of the runners in the race will be wearing Victories. If you are a sprinter I would suggest getting the Nike Zoom Rival S 7 these are quality sprinting and jumping spikes. Regardless of whether you run sprints or distance your should also put a couple of dollars into buying a bunch of extra screw in spikes my favorite length are 3/16 inches but depending on the distance your running, the type of track, and the legality of spike lengths at the track meet it is better to just have several different lengths so that you are ready for anything.

WATCHES
GPS watches are huge in the world of running nowadays and Nike has a pretty nice one. The Nike+ SportWatch is really stylish and useful. It can help you keep track of your mileage and it even gives you a little Great Job message after every run you finish. If you don't like knowing your times and just want to go with the flow on your runs I'd suggest buying a Timex Ironman Watch. It's the perfect running watch. These watches are small, extremely lightweight, stylish, and most importantly they have a big display so it's really easy to check your time and take splits.

HATS
Hats all depend on the person some people like wearing them and some people don't. During the winter you can wear any beanie that you like or none if your head doesn't get cold. Nike has some nice running beanies like the Nike Run CW but you could also get just a light running cap like this, the special thing about this hat is that it is super light compared to a normal baseball cap and it'll actually help keep you cool especially when the weather starts warming up. Wearing hats backwards while running has also become really popular recently so you should have no problem looking good rocking a backwards hat on your runs.

GLOVES
Honestly, I don't think gloves really matter that much. Your hands start to swell up when you run so pretty much any gloves that you wear will become uncomfortable after a few minutes of running. However, if it is really cold one day and you need something over your hands take a pair of Nike Midcalf socks and put them on your hands. Paws out of course! (The heel of the sock should be on the back of your hand). I have found that doing this is way more comfortable than actually wearing gloves and your hands don't feel constricted in the socks like they do in the gloves. Lets face it, pretty much all runners are a little goofy. If other people see you wearing socks on your hands play it off like a joke, get them to try it and once they realize how great it is they will join you and you will be the trend setter.

Well that's all I've got! Good luck on your journey into the wonderful world of running, it has changed countless lives including my own!
