Regular NH-L9i is $10 less and has that genuine Noctua look of quality.

u/Fidler_2K · 26 pointsr/buildapcsales

This case is really great for a Ryzen 2200G or 2400G build. It was completely out of stock at every retailer in the US but Microcenter has it in stock now with a discount. If you do pick it up in store don't forget to use the $5 off $30 discount: https://www.retailmenot.com/view/microcenter.com

If you do decide to go with this case I recommend the Noctua NH-L9i, it's a really great low profile cooler that fits nicely in this case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VCAJ7W/

Edit: this case is $99.00 on Amazon and I believe it was that price on Newegg before it sold out. So this is a pretty solid sale.

yea see if you can fit 80mm fans to the drilled sides like /u/relikborg suggested. Also you may want to see if you can replace your stock cpu cooler with some other low profile cooler like this
or this if they fit

u/zyck_titan · 6 pointsr/hardware

There are a couple ways to improve performance, but I think the problem is that it's so expensive to produce, due to the tight tolerances required, that it's really more of a novelty than a competitive product.

Every other cooler in the video is cheaper than the Engine 27

Engine 27

Noctua

Cryorig

Phanteks

Silverstone AR06

To improve performance they could;

  1. Integrate a vapor chamber into the base of the cooler

  2. Machine a denser fin array onto the spinning fansink

  3. Make the whole cooler, fansink and outer heatsink, taller. Another 10mm wouldn't hurt compatibility with most applications.

All of these modifications are going to increase the price, and may or may not bring it into competitiveness with these less expensive coolers.
u/EpicBattleMage · 5 pointsr/buildapc

How low do you need to go? This low?

u/ASTAR2012 · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Honestly, you probably won't hear any reduction in noise without changing the cooler. If you can fit it, I'd recommend a low profile noctua cooler such as this one.

Also, for what it's worth, you might consider a Ryzen 5 1600 for the price. More cores and generally better for most workloads. Biostar has a mITX Ryzen board. I'm not sure what programs you are running, but I would recommend looking into it if you haven't. Just a thought.

u/Drewology · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Nothing really beats the performance of a Noctua NH-L9I. It's more pricey, but you are getting a very quality product.

If you get the clicking noise from your SF600 Gold, you can either switch out to an SF600 Platinum or add the NF-A9x14 found in the L9i or L9a. Do not use the separately sold NF-A9x14 as it will not start at the right voltage. If you still use the stock ribbon cables from the SF600 Gold, you can either buy the SF series cable kit, get/make custom cables or buy the SF600 Platinum.

As it currently stands, these are the only two reasons to make the upgrade from the SF600 Gold to its Platinum equivalent until JonnyGuru publishes a review.

u/Svarthofde · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I assume this kind of product is out of the question since you want it to fit in 4 cm https://www.quietpc.com/nof-icepipe

An option for cpu cooling is something like this maybe https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Low-Profile-Cooler-Retail-Cooling/dp/B009VCAJ7W

u/bycdiaz · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I got a noctua CPU cooler that is cheaper than the one you selected. Maybe check it out and see if it fits your needs?

This case isn't really built for tall, tower air coolers. For a vertical air cooler, I would say no higher than 80mm tall. With that said, I wouldn't recommend vertical air coolers because of the limited air space between the mobo and top of the case. Instead, I would recommend just going for liquid cooling or a horizontal low profile one like this Noctua NH-L9i http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009VCAJ7W/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1419437419&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX200_QL40.

u/OmegaZero55 · 2 pointsr/intel

Ah, well if you ever want to get one around the same size that's better something like this Noctua would probably work.

u/Tylertooo · 2 pointsr/buildapc

It can be done. People put ITX systems with a zotac 1080 mini into the NFC Skyreach. That case measures 34.8 x 22.5 x 5.7 CM.

This could be done with an ATX motherboard, if you placed the GPU parallel to the motherboard and situated it just above the PCI-e slots. Here's a quick and dirty sketch: ATX mobo/horizontal gpu.

For a project of this nature, you'll want to look into the HD Plex 400 Watt DC-ATX PSU as well as the Noctua NH-L9i, and finally, a short flexible riser cable.

You see, this is sort of my thing... Hope this helps.

u/Rossatron13 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I did just that and ordered the 6600k. It doesn't come with stock cooling so I ordered this too https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009VCAJ7W/?tag=pcp0f-21 - should be small enough to fit in my case.

u/happyhumorist · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Thats a good one.

And just to clarify from one of my earlier posts, which i'll edit. "Air coolers will do a better job cooling." I mean that air coolers will do better than that H55.

u/duskmoonflow · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

Just a heads up on the Noctua L9i, it's $39.95 currently on Amazon Prime so you may want to reconsider that price.

Noctua NH-L9i CPU cooler for $16.99 on Amazon by a new seller when its usually like $50. Is this fake?

u/Iwantmorelife · 2 pointsr/oculus

In mine I used a Noctua L9i - Mostly because I really wanted the extra space for cabling. It made the build quite a bit easier and has worked like a champ.

u/spicedpumpkins · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Did it have to be black? DAMN.

Great case though. I've built TWO white ones for my kids.

NOTE: will only fit low profile aftermarket coolers like Noctura if you're going air.

u/makar1 · 2 pointsr/buildapc
u/Cy-Gor · 2 pointsr/homelab

There are two cases that fit the bill with out going rack mount.

and http://www.u-nas.com/xcart/product.php?productid=17617&cat=0&featured=Y

If you go with the UNAS case then you pretty much have to go with http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VCAJ7W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2CXA4GZBWDX2B&coliid=I2QKJV0LTZEWID if you are using a socket motherboard.

The other option is getting something with all 5.25 drive bays and get 5 into 3 hotswap trays.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156269

The raid max is about as cheap as i have found for 9 5.25 drive bays. This will give you 15 drive spots in a normal size tower. not counting what you can fit inside in non hotswap areas.

u/SaxyGeek · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

u/rilo2009 · 1 pointr/buildapc

My cat knocked my PC off my desk (imagine having your computer on, turning it upside down, then and dropping it from above your belt on to a hardwood floor). Everything appears OK except for the case is a bit mangled and the stock heat sync on my i7-4790k broke off and cannot be remounted. I replace the heat sync with this and things work fine but my processor appears to be running much hotter than it did with the stock heat sync. (games now can get up to 80c and even once hit 90c)

My question is if anyone can think of a reason why the processor would not be cooling like it used to as a result of the fall off the desk? Before anyone asks I've checked the thermal paste and it's correctly applied, this is my third build so I think I've figured out how to install CPU coolers by now. Is it possible the Noctua cooler just not as good as the stock fan or something else broke from the fall?

u/airmantharp · 1 pointr/sffpc

There's Noctua's NH-L9i which is a bit shorter

u/C47man · 1 pointr/buildapc

cooler will be a Noctua NH-L9I

the GPU will be a 1070, but this is a miniITX build and I know when we build ours that getting the power cables inserted properly on the GPU was somewhat difficult. Not sure if the risk is greater letting them install it or having it shipped. Is there some kind of more expensive but safer shipping option out there?

u/IceAcolyte · 1 pointr/buildapc

Oh my. Yeah you want one tiny option.

The keyword you're looking for I guess will be low-profile, something like this guy

u/TestOfCourage · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm using my old fan to cool the cpu: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B009VCAJ7W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also I have this windows 10 USB plugged into my PC: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01019T6O0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But I don't know how to select it.

How do I check ambient temps?

u/km_irl · 1 pointr/freenas

I have a U-NAS NSC810A. I'm actually using it with a Supermicro x9 mATX motherboard, an m1015 HBA and a 4-port NIC. It's a tight squeeze but everything does fit.

If you want to use PCIe cards you will need to get PCIe riser card extension cables. The ones on the website didn't work because the available slots on my motherboard were 8X. You might also need motherboard power extension cables depending on how meticulous you want to be with routing for airflow. You'll also need a 1U Flex power supply. Given the size I also upgraded the factory CPU cooler to a Noctua NH-L9i. Temps so far have been fine.

This case is small so it was a pain to work on. I was willing to put up with that because it fits perfectly on the shelf I wanted to install it on. It's small, quiet and there are 8 hot swap bays.

u/SeafoodDuder · 1 pointr/buildapc

Nah, it's smaller. The Arctic Freezer is height is 5.91" (150mm) and the 212 EVO is 6.26" (159mm)

If you want something even smaller meant for Mini-ITX cases then I'd recommend the Noctua NH-L9i, it's height is 1.46" (37mm)
. It's $40 with free shipping at Amazon.

u/aquaknox · 1 pointr/buildapc

well it is a heckuva lot taller than the one you have, which is why it would clear your ram. maybe try a flat one, like this noctua?

u/shameronsho · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

It is hard to go wrong, I use this and it gets the job done. The Noctua NH-D15 is excellent, it is as good and better than some AIO liquid coolers.

Take a look at these https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpu-coolers,4181.html read some reviews and get something that makes sense.

u/Me-as-I · 1 pointr/buildapc

I might be saying that just because it sees that it is a smaller case and the cooler is not a low profile one. According to this review though it will still fit. He actually says specifically that tall coolers will.

If you want to get a different one anyway, get one like this.

did you use the node 202 for gaming? i'm curious to know the temps.

u/BryonLewis · 1 pointr/homelab

Thanks for the great info and the other cases to look at. I've looking at some of the PLink USA cases and I figured I would either have to go with a tight fitting 2u or a 3u. For the cooler I was thinking specifically the low profile noctua ( https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NH-L9i-Premium-Low-profile-LGA115x/dp/B009VCAJ7W ) just for decent performance for the height (37mm). Once I do decide on a case I'll take a look at the measurements to see what can fit and realize that I might have to go with mITX.

Thanks for the info on the direct-play. I do have other users that will probably need trans coded due to bandwidth limitations.

u/cr3z · 1 pointr/linuxmasterrace

Alright, I have not personally used these cpu coolers, but Noctua in terms of air coolers they are a lot more silent compared to anything else I've used.

for example there is a low profile cooler retailing for 40$ on amazon.

I had the Noctua NH-d15 on my Intel 6600k overclocked to 4.8ghz and under load it was i think 50 to 60 degrees celsius.

Lol. The dark Rock pro has some of the quietest fans on the market. Unless your running stock turbo, any over clock is gonna suck without a fan unless the case has enough fresh air. Tbh, I'd suggest getting a low profile noctua cooler. I think that's the quietest your gonna get.

Its not exactly cheap, but installation is pretty easy and it is a beast of a cooler, as well as low-profile:

https://noctua.at/en/nh-c14s

Of course it will depend on the dimensions of your case

Edit: this one may be better for your budget:

So with that case it looks like you're limited to a max cooler height to 65mm, and if you use all of it up you'd be right up to the bottom of the power supply. I'm going to preface this with saying I have my doubts on keeping a 5ghz overclock cool with a cooler under 65mm, but it looks like your best options are Cryorig C7 and the noctua nh-l9 or noctua NH-L9I. The larger noctua may not fit because it maybe touching your power supply. But from what I saw in a few videos the cryorig and the smaller noctua perform similarly just that the noctua was a quieter.

u/chubby464 · 1 pointr/CabaloftheBuildsmiths

Alrighty, thanks, I'm kinda not in a rush to get the gpu yet. Quick question regarding the Noctua cpu cooler, would the height difference between the one I got above in the final build and this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009VCAJ7W/?tag=pcpapi-20 be significant?

u/lPanzerfaust · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

For an ITX build I cant reccomend the hyper t2 more for a budget minded build. If you have more roubles laying around you can pick up the low profile noctua nhl 91l.

u/makiasd · 1 pointr/sffpc

The Cryorig C7 is 47mm, but the S4 mini has a hard height CPU cooler limit of 45mm. 40mm max is recommended to reduce noise. I'm switching out the 15mm thick stock fan for a 13mm thick 140mm fan so that it fits (there could be ram clearance issues depending on your motherboard), but you could go with a smaller cooler like the Noctua L9i or Zalman CNPS2x since your CPU has a lower TDP. The Zalman would also allow room for a 12mm thick 120mm case fan above it if you want one.

One thing to keep in mind is that the waiting list for the S4 mini is long... I requested mine in mid August and am still waiting for my pre-order form.

u/Ziobbe · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Thanks to you i could significantly reduce the price of the overall build.
