Last year a buddy and I took a 1300 mile trip around Colorado /r/dualsport ride on a Husqvarna 701 and a Yamaha WR250R. Here's a photo of the gear from last year.

This year we are adding one person (riding a monster, brand new, KTM 1090 Adventure R) to the crew and moving a little farther west to see some of the amazing sites in Utah. I put together a 1500 mile route, and will tack on White Rim Trail (if we can get passes) and wander around in Beef Basin for a bit.

A few of my friends have started using Polar Steps, so I've setup a trip and will try to keep it updated. I also maintain a simple website and will post photos on my flickr account.

Now, on to the fun, because sorting out gear and packing is half the fun of a /r/motocamping trip.

I'm involved in volunteer search and rescue (/r/searchandrescue) so a lot of this gear comes from my callout pack and extended incident command packs. The more experienced riders will notice that I'm lacking any tools, spares, tube slime, etc. I'm fortunate enough to be riding with 2 other riders that are packing all that jazz.

Two mottos:

  1. buy once, cry once
  2. high speed, low drag

After watching a video from fortnine, ended up buying the nonoise plugs

If i am not listening to music i wear these, they are pretty great.

What is the consensus on IEM over this sub? I've been reading a bunch of different opinions on Shure SE215 earplugs and I don't want to make a huge investment if they don't fit well. Also I saw these NoNoise plugs but what stops me of buying the Shure plugs is the fitting.

Which ear-plugs do you have? I have tried foam and these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDHWELY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but I can never get my Sena loud enough to hear clearly. Anything over 55mph and the ambient sound drowns out anything the Sena puts out.

I have the Sena 10C, but even my 20S was the same way.

I disagree. With earplugs and a full face helmet I feel completely isolated in the city, and not in a good way. I check my mirrors all the time, head check every lane change, but wearing earplugs is extremely disorienting for me. If I am going for a longer ride I will stop once I get out of town to put them in, and take them out as I get closer. I have these

Try something like these.

They allow air flow into your ear so you don't feel plugged up.

I’ve been using these and am a fan: Nonoise Motor - New Generation Ear Plugs - Ceramic Filter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDHWELY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_chC4Bb3W9CPVR

I run these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EDHWELY

They're the shit.

Try these... I commute daily and always wear them. My helmet is an icon variant, which isn't known for being quiet... and my bike has a loud yoshimura exhaust with no baffle. I find that they work well for me.

Same.

I'm looking at purchasing Plugphones and Nonoise as research.

u/MotoChooch · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I use the NoNoise Motor series. They have a ceramic filter instead of just being foam throughout. I love them.

I've been very happy with these. I've ridden with foam plugs and i think they block my sena's speakers a little too much. Plus with the ceramic plugs you can still clearly hear your exhaust when you get on it.

Hook it onto your keychain and you will never forget about your earplugs again

u/horsespower · 1 pointr/motorcycles

These: https://www.amazon.com/Nonoise-Motor-Generation-Ceramic-Filter/dp/B00EDHWELY

I’ve used really quiet foam ones, which work, but theyre so quiet you do miss stuff going on around you and it takes some of the fun out of riding.

These are very effective, definitely below the damage threshold, but they let though enough noise to hear cars etc and your own bike.

u/Bryan_FM · 1 pointr/motorcycles

Even vs. these? Wondering because they claim to be purpose-built.

u/BabySquid650 · 1 pointr/motorcycles

This is the most comfortable I found and kept the most noise out, I ended up losing the pair ( 30 $ on Amazon ) and purchased a cheaper replica made out of plastic rather than foam and it hurts slightly if not inserted properly so I would def. recommend my original purchase. The boyfriend and I have been looking into getting some nice earplugs (for dual bike & concert use) and I'm just looking to get some input on which brands everyone likes.

Were two that we were looking at but... I'm opening to suggestions. And experiences with either.

SureFire Ear Plugs The main issue is the sizing. There's 3 sizes, and it may or may not fit your ear.

Seems like I have very minor tinnitus. I can hear ringing slightly when its very quiet. I put down about 150k in the last few years. My R1 had a shorty and I wasnt wearing plugs. Now I have an Arai Vector 2 (great damping) and I always wear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDHWELY/ref=sr_ph_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1484730579&sr=sr-1&keywords=nonoise+earplugs these plugs that are magical.
