What magnesium and potassium supplements are you taking? Magnesium carbonate pills didn't help me with my blood pressure or lightheadedness. It wasn't until I switched to Magnesium Citrate powder that I mixed with water and a potassium salt-substitute that my blood pressure went down and I stopped feeling faint/dizzy.

I really feel that switching to magnesium citrate powder was the key to lowering my bp and feeling better. This is the one I use NOW Foods Magnesium Citrate Powder

Here is some reputable magnesium citrate power : http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Magnesium-Citrate-Powder-Ounces/dp/B004189JCW

Here is some potassium powder: http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Potassium-Gluconate-1-pound/dp/B0015C2ZI2/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457137020&sr=1-1&keywords=potassium+powder

Both will last you longer, be more effective, and in the end just be more efficient at tackling the electrolyte imbalances we suffer through as alcoholics.

You take a tea spoon/table spoon/whatever spoon and mix it into water, stir it up and gulp it down.

Uh ok... so i made some research on my own and found this:

I just purchased 2 bottles, only to find out it was NOT "pure" Magnesium Citrate powder. I am a long time, and recurrent, purchaser of the magnesium citrate powder. I make my own capsules for easy ingestion. However, I noticed the powder was different this time, and when I tasted my latest purchase the exothermic reaction on my tongue was certainly enough to convince me. I highly suspect the stuff is actually sodium picosulfate/magnesium citrate, SPMC (I was a chemistry major, now a physician).
If the product is SPMC than putting it into capsules before ingestion can be dangerous, as there are case reports of stomach ulceration caused by the known exothermic reaction. If you dissolve it in water before ingestion then it should not harm you, as it is a well used laxative before colonoscopies in certain parts of the world.
However, I am disappointed in the manufacturer for changing their product, and marketing it as the same old "pure" stuff that I have come to know and love. It is NOT pure magnesium citrate powder!

So thats that... So yeah... Gym Beam (im sooory guys if i hurt your favourite brand- dont be so touchy feely) is probably the same case as written above.

Sodium Citrate

Magnesium Citrate

Potassium Citrate

am pretty sure any decent vitamin shop (not GNC) will have most if not all of this.

That's great to hear! I've had a nice experience with Citrate too, although I think I liked Magnesium Malate more.

You said you use the NOW brand. I've seen many complaints in Amazon reviews that, for at least the recent year or so, the Magnesium Citrate powder by NOW doesn't dissolve well in water - a lot of it seems to sink to the bottom.

Have you noticed such a thing as well? Water solubility could be important for optimal absorption, so that's a possible concern.
