After reading all sorts of material (like this stuff) about boundary-setting over the 29 years since I stumbled into my first CoDA meeting -- as well as this little gem a few years ago -- it became evident to me that boundaries sort of "set themselves" when one...

  1. becomes conceptually aware of the Patterns & Characteristics of Codependence,

  2. uses at least first eight steps of a consciousness raiser / thought questioner / emotion digester like the 10 StEPs of Emotion Processing to turn that conceptual awareness into experiential awareness, and

  3. the last two steps to process that experiential awareness sufficiently that one will reliably change course.

(Some of us were much more deeply conditioned, in-doctrine-ated, instructed, socialized, habituated, and normalized to codependency than others -- although it's clear too me now that it's a common cultural curse -- and recognize that we need may need to remain in stage five of the five stages of therapeutic recovery the rest of our lives.)

Wow, there's a meeting nearby I could go to.

I wonder if it would be weird to go there because I've never really been in a relationship. The one time I tried to start a relationship I fled because I perceived an extreme threat. I guess I could probably say I'm codependent with my mother?

BTW There is also https://adultchildren.org which someone else recommended earlier elsewhere, and it might be more relevant to me overall, but there is no nearby meeting.

Do you think just that book would be sufficient for me to get some idea about the question I asked about the kinds of relationships mentioned earlier? I don't think that I could read a whole bunch of books now. Just getting through From Surviving to Thriving was hard. I'm intrigued by the description at https://www.amazon.ca/Relationship-Jiddu-Krishnamurti/dp/0062506080/ , as it reminds me of some observations I made.
