Want something that is more than bright enough, heavy, and cheap, and lasts long enough, usually? Look for any el-cheapo China light like this.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RDQB4FY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524041837&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=bike+light+cree&dpPl=1&dpID=51tDa0DDn-L&ref=plSrch

There are a bunch of copy cats and they are all good enough for the price. Only problem is they only last 2-3 hours on high and if you want them to be truly monsoon-level waterproof you need to take the battery and wrap it your damn self with electrical tape or wax the paper bits.

Is a 200 dollar light going to be 10x better? Well, not as a light.

Yes, it happens.

That said, it doesn't have to hurt too badly. These lights and similar ones are really good and under $20 and sometimes they're on sale for around $10 -- they're way brighter than anything you'll find at the bike shop for under $100.

Also, these things tend to be some work to take off the bike, so that discourages thieves somewhat, but it also discourages you from bringing it in with you. So you can add a disconnect to allow you to remove the light head (they probably won't take the battery), or you can just cover it with a bag or something -- that'll help somewhat.
