Something like these. They should have them in just about any kind of department store. It's really just whatever is the cheapest washcloth type of thing they have. That pack of rags I linked to is a 24-pack so it should last a while before you wash them.

The key is to not let them get too dirty. Use some kind of a cleaner that will kill bacteria to ensure that you are actually sanitizing your surfaces. I usually use one every 2-3 days, and usually wash a load of rags about once a month. I keep a sack of dirty rags, and then a sack of clean. When I decide that a rag is too dirty, I just grab a new one. Also, you have to make sure to store the dirty ones in something like a mesh bag. Since they will likely be damp when you're done, they will need to be able to breathe and dry so they don't get funky.

Also, you will learn to establish sort of a rag hierarchy. I use fresh clean rags on the kitchen counter. After they're no longer suitable for that, you can use them to clean spills from the floor, or the tub, or the outside of the toilet, etc. So, the rag that is too dirty for your counter can still be used for other things until the point where you toss it in the bag to get washed. I use tons of bleach when I do a load, so I don't worry about where my rags have been when they come out clean.

This has saved me a lot of money, and it's honestly how everything gets cleaned in the custodial industry. Of course, you could always keep paper towels around for certain things when you need them, but I just stopped buying them all together.

I'd use something like this. Cheap semi disposable rags. I reuse them for years, just wash in bleach as needed.
