I have this which I take around with me when I travel for trials and such, but I think it's a nice starter pack to have around the house. I also have vet glue (you can buy skin glue at the store though which will work just fine) as well as some sutures for dire emergencies while hunting or camping.

One thing I suggest doing though is talking with your closest vet to see what they recommend and to also see if maybe there is a large animal vet/mobile vet that could be accessible in a more severe emergency. They should still have the basic skill set to stabilize your dog if needed.
