Borax vaginal pills - these go in your vagina and they REALLY work. I had chronic BV/yeast issues after or during my period and when i was on BC it was worse. Anyway - if i have any vaginal upset - i insert one of the pills into the vagina (DO NOT TAKE BY MOUTH). It basically corrects PH and the bacteria dont like that. I have been using them now for about a year and i have not had to use any RX at all for any yeast infections etc. I swear relief is also very fast. If you have an infection, the instructions will tell you to use for many days - honestly - one has cleared up any issue.

Use it at night, because you will get some grainy discharge. I do have a latex issue, and also sensitive to some semen.

Example that i have used

Also, if you still use tampons - switch to a menstrual cup. That really helped things too.

I second boric acid! You don't need to take them every day, I don't think. I use this brand, in case they're any cheaper than what you've seen. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01KGFXSLQ/ref=oh_aui_i_sh_in_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Contrary to the other commenter I would say that boric acid saved my life after battling with recurring bv/yeast infections for three years. Even after visiting multiple (five to be exact) doctors who couldn't figure out the problem, this is the only thing that helped.

I drink kombucha and green tea at least three times a week and use a boric acid suppository (from Amazon) when things start to feel slightly off. I try to avoid eating too many sugary foods or carbs in a day and also eat greek yogurt with cinnamon and honey at least four times a week. These changes have completely gotten rid of my infections. Hope this helps! I know how awful it feels when it seems like things will never be normal again!

I use Boric Acid Suppositories when things start feeling off. I had about three infections back to back for a while and it sucked. Smelled horrible, itching, the works... it was embarrassing as all hell. I also go condomless and he finishes inside me; there’s no way I’m going to give either of those up, lol.
You pop one in your vagina at night (make sure you’re done with sex for the day) and let it dissolve. There’s a little bit of goop in the morning, but it’s not too bad. Just in case: DO NOT TAKE THESE ORALLY.
I’ve had a lot of luck with this one: pH-D Boric Acid Suppositories
You can use it as often as you like. I was using a couple times a week at first. After things normalized for me, I’ll do it maybe about once or twice a month. I keep a bottle in my night stand for good measure.

Edit: I too am an IUD user (copper/nonhormonal). I’ve had mine in for about a year and a half. Been doing the suppositories for about a year now.

I understand your pain! You probably have recurrent BV/ yeast infections. I dealt with this issue for years. Essentially, for reasons probably out of your control, your vagina is just not properly regulating its PH. It's a lot more common than I thought. Your period is throwing off your PH.

Something I found to be really helpful are Boric Acid suppositories. I used these and they were a miracle! (I think any type would work). Some women use them towards the end of their period to prevent any symptoms, some use them at the onset of symptoms for a week or two, and they seem to work for a lot of people! Read through the reviews and give them a try. Please remember, do not eat them- they are quite toxic. You put them inside,

Ughhh I really hate BV - I developed it last year and it wouldn't go away. I tried metronidazole, probiotics, peroxide, yoghurt, changing my diet etc. and it would just keep coming back. Then someone on reddit swore by boric acid suppositories like these. I used one everyday for a week and that completely cleared it up. Now I use one on the last day of my period just in case because I read somewhere that the blood messes up the vaginal microbiome and the good lactobacillus bacteria die off (but this could also be a google based myth). In any case Haven't had BV come back in over 6months. The CDC also recommends Boric acid as part of combination therapy so its not so crazy.

u/funnilizatt · 3 pointsr/SexWorkersOnly

Yay! I hope they work out for you!

Tips:

-If you're planning on having intercourse with one in, make sure your vaginal cavity is cleansed of blood. I know this sounds weird but you don't want to get residual blood anywhere. The best way I found to do this is put a lite tampon in for a bit. I don't douche so I can't speak to that (if you do, I recommend you using pH-D Feminine Health Support to restore the healthy bacteria back). Side note: I think every woman should have a bottle of pH-D around. It's a godsend.

-Practice a few times before you use them. They can leak and it's so embarrassing when you're going at it. Since my flow is heavy, I put one in shortly before my appointment just to err on the side of caution. Interestingly, I typically wear a Diva Cup during my period and the Softcup holds more fluid!

-Upon removal, they are MESSY. Perhaps I don't have much practice with them but if it's full...ugh...expect a crime scene with a lot of clean up. Removing it in the shower might be best, if you can.

-The Softcup won't get lost. It might get wedged in high and tight (that's a good thing!) but you can hook your finger and pull it out. See point mentioned above.

-I've never had a partner say they've felt anything while it's in. Win-win.

If you have more questions, feel free to DM me. Good luck!

I used to get chronic yeast infections, but I use boric acid suppositories and it changed my life. You can read all the reviews on Amazon if you want. https://www.amazon.com/pH-D-Feminine-Health-Support-Suppositories/dp/B01KGFXSLQ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=273F69OOVL0L5&keywords=boric+acid+suppositories&qid=1566248616&s=gateway&sprefix=boric%2Caps%2C221&sr=8-3

I don't really have issues anymore. Having these on hand helps me catch an infection before it starts.

u/eva_destruction_ · 3 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

I can't promise this will help, but I had an awful yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis (I didn't ever go to the doctor) that lasted months! I was trying everything: garlic, apple cider vinegar, greek yogurt.. you name it. I finally stumbled upon Boric Acid. That link is to some boric acid suppositories specifically marketed for BV or yeast infections, but I just ordered the boric acid powder and put them in empty 0 or 00 size gel capsules. I ordered it from amazon but they might have it at your local pharmacy. Either way, it was amazing. Seriously night and day after just two or three days of use.

I suggest putting the suppositories in at night, as they make you INSANELY wet.

Also, I'm not a doctor, but it does seem like you might have an allergy, IBS, or some kind of inflammatory bowel disorder. Maybe try a serious elimination diet and slowly add things back in?
Good luck!

Edit: here's a link to the regular boric acid powder and the empty gel capsules I just used a knife to dump the powder in the capsules, it doesn't have to be precise, you can do two if you can't get the capsules very full, it won't hurt you.

I use one of these occasionally

Majorly helps me for the reason you stated. PH balance can cause a ton of issues... Skin tears, yeast infections, etc.

u/Artemistical · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Sure! These are what I use - NOT for oral consumption, just fyi!

That’s where I got them. If you search this subreddit you’ll find a ton of info on how to use them and testimonials on how amazing they are.

Did they ever give you an external cream because sometimes there is yeast externally that causes the itch and an anti fungal cream is the only thing that will help

So, you may want to use boric acid pills (you put them up your vagina) for the over night. I've got the same issue with the odor happening after multiple rounds and these things work like a charm. They dissolve overnight and everything is fresh the next day. Also, helps prevent BV (for me at least) and I used to get it constantly.

These are the ones I use: pH-D Feminine Health Support, Boric Acid Vaginal Suppositories

Hey- little bit of an update! I did some research and I decided to try some Boric Acid supplements for Bacterial Vaginosis, and I’ve seen some really good progress! You insert one into your vagina I think once every night. I’ve only done it twice but here’s a picture of how much better my vagina has been looking: https://imgur.com/a/4qLLtUl . Haha I know this sounds like an Ad but I swear this stuff is pretty great. You can always try it and see if it helps any. But still keep that doctors appointment in case it is HPV. I would just pick up some PH-D Lady bits are complicated things and can easily get out of whack. Have her put one in after sex, or in the mornings if you like to have sex in the evenings and she'll be back to being really wet.

The emotional / intimacy stuff I can't help with, but from a physical standpoint. These should make a difference without needing to go to a doctor

I had chronic BV for a few years, it was so awful. I would take antibiotics that would give me a yeast infection and that cycle went on for a while.
Now I take boric acid suppositories, and my life is actually so much better.

I take these. It’s called pH-D feminine health support on amazon. If you’re still debating and thinking about, read the reviews. I, myself, love these and think it’s a need for every woman out there.

u/RazorbladeApple · 1 pointr/sex

You’re knocking her pH out of wack; it’s pretty common. Get her some Boric Acid suppositories. and she will be as good as new.

I had to get them off of amazon, I talked to a few pharmacists and asked why they don’t sell them in stores. Apparently, people were taking them orally and not reading the directions so they don’t sell them in NY state. Other states may though. I’ve gotten a few friends hooked on these too they really do work.

If you don't have time to get to target you can buy these here: https://www.amazon.com/pH-D-Feminine-Health-Support-Suppositories/dp/B01KGFXSLQ.

Sometimes I only need to use them for one night, but if I actually think I have BV I will use it for 3-4 consecutive nights and that usually does the trick. There's tons of reviews from women who have used them, so if you still feel weary you should read some of those :)
