I wanted to find something rechargeable but this one does the job well. I keep a beard and mostly use this for body grooming.

Option 1: electric body shaver, like this one.

Option 2: waxing or similar.

It comes with 2 attachments to adjust the length, but at the right angle you can get it to shave really close. The long handle and wrist strap help with the reaching problem, and the fact that it's a men's tool helps keep it discrete in the bathroom. YMMV

Use a loofah in the shower or an exfoliating washcloth before you trim your body hair.

I use the trimmer with the 0.5 mm on the armpits and pubic area(shaft and balls). It looks almost as close as it would be shaven. It runs on an AA battery. I'm sure there's something better but it works. I've used it three times and no nicks at all. I've had other trimmers but they all would get you sooner or later and always at least one or two ball nicks. They bother you for days

Do yourself a favor for the future and get one of these. It'll get as close as a shave with ZERO chance of a cut or nick. It's life changing. Works great for the ladies as well.

If you want to spend 20 on an electric, see this. It's $20 on Amazon and it is designed for body hair. It shaves 0.2mm or something like that from the skin and comes with a skin protector so it's safe for the scrotum for example.

So it isn't as close as a true shave but it's VERY VERY close to that, while being technically touchless so it's extremely safe on armpit skin and ballsack skin and, importantly for me, also safe near the anus because I have a hairy ass and I researched and bought this specifically for how to safely deforest my groin and ass and this is what I discovered and had recommended on r/malegrooming by like 5 different people. I got it and it has proven to be excellent.

It also has a longer guard you can put on to shave but leave a little length, useful for controlling male hair on the thigh or to shorten leg hair or something but not shave it skin close.

The blades are self sharpening and the only thing you'll need to replace is a single AA battery and you could use a rechargeable nihm AA like I do for zero waste.

FYI this is shower safe and is watertight however best results come using it when dry.

It really is pretty great. Only downside is that the battery isn't user serviceable, but, honestly, it's lasted me like 5 years before starting to lose peak charge, so I probably shouldn't complain.
