$350 for PS4 Pro in 2017 is a shit deal, what is it, 2016? It was $360 on Black Friday 2016 and $340 on Christmas 2016. Check CamelCamelCamel for the Amazon price history if you don't believe me.

u/SMYFFL · 10 pointsr/ffxiv

PS4 Pro costs $400, so that gives you a budget of about $400 to make a better computer. Since you already have a GTX 1060 6GB (much stronger than the PS4 Pro), you're really only held back by your FX-6300. Here's a CPU, motherboard, and RAM combination that would let you upgrade your PC to dramatically beat the PS4 Pro in performance. You'll easily pull off 60 FPS in almost all situations at max settings with an R5 1600 and a 1060 6GB, which is a lot better than PS4 Pro does. Plus playing on PC lets you use things like ACT and Discord more easily than on PS4.

Yeah but it also costs 7 times as much as a Ps4 Pro. For the same amount of money you can get a Ps4 Pro and a nice 4k OLED TV.

Edit: The laptop costs $2699

Keep in mind that last holiday season, the PS4 Pro briefly hit $360 and then $340 for a day or so. I'd expect the same this year.

Sadly, Many of us should have taken advantage of the 15% off earlier during Black Friday. But if you were unable to get one, this is about a great deal.

Feel free to go ahead and "a lower price" on Amazon Ps4 Pro , so more of us in the States can get in on it.

If you feel a PS4 Pro is over hyped, AMazon is running a PS4 Slim for 229 down from 249 Holiday Price Point

$399 new, you can get a used one for $319.20 on prime.

AFAIK Hasta ahorita nadie ha traído el PS4 Pro, la única manera de comprarlo es en Amazon MX ($9,524 sin descuento) https://www.amazon.com.mx/Sony-PlayStation-Pro-Versión-importado/dp/B01LOP8EZC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1479414304&sr=8-2&keywords=ps4+pro

Forgetting this? Membership Cost;
60 dollars per year x 5 years= 300 dollars

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStation-4-Pro-1TB/dp/B01LOP8EZC This PS4 costs 400 dollars, and has a 1TB hard-drive, and stronger performance than a typical ps4. I'm using this a reference because a 230 dollar PS4 (non-existent btw, I'm only finding 250 at the lowest) doesn't have a 1TB hard-drive, and also has weaker performance.

A 400-600 dollar PC will have a 1TB hard-drive(a 230 dollar PS4 will not, something you seem to ignore), and stronger performance than a PS4 Pro. As well as that, a PS4 will actually be more expensive in the long run due to the 300 excess dollars you must pay (over a typical 5 year period) for online playing. As well as that, console game sales simply aren't as frequent or as generous as PC Steam sales, which jack up the price of a console. A PC will also definitely be able to play all games that come out within that time period; modded, and with better performance, I might add.

Also, the OS argument is literally straight up stupid. Most people pirate Windows or have a copy already. If you don't pirate Windows, or own a copy, it is going to run you about 100-120 dollars. This is equivalent to 2 years of membership, 2 video games, or one game with multiple DLC's.

As well, a Chromebook is hardly a decent laptop. It is weak hardware-wise and not very versatile. You can't even download things on it. Even if a PC is more expensive initially, it has way more usage than a console, has better performance, cheaper games, modifications, and more....

This is just the truth. Accept it.

> upgrading your GPU costs less than buying a new console

And that's just a middle of the road GPU. You're probably upgrading to something that's $500-$1200.

> unless you had a reaaaally old CPU, modern middle-range CPUs can easily never limit you in games for 6 years or more

"Never limit you" is a bit murky. CPU could absolutely be your bottleneck (my i5 8600k is maxing out while my 1070ti is chilling at 25% memory usage on D2) but if you just mean that your FPS will be 60+ then

> you can build a solid pc for a similar price as a newer console nowadays which is sweet

PS4 Pro

Reasonably priced PC. Cheapest PC I'd recommend buying comes out to ~$650 on pcpartpicker.

I think the sentiment you're going for is "PC has advantages over console and is more accessible than ever" and you're absolutely right. Just had a few points of clarification to temper some of the bits that were a bit exaggerated. Hopefully this doesn't come off as nit-picky!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LOP8EZC/ref=s9_top_hd_bw_b710gst_g63_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-1&pf_rd_r=776Q3960QM31YQFGWJYP&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=04a5c22f-e81b-50bd-ab92-d44ae8c8f7f5&pf_rd_i=6427871011 COnsoles are 400 dollars, yeah thats a pro but the standard one was 400 dollars on release too and for a long time.

Games are so much cheaper on pc, like up to 90% cheaper. PC games works most of the time and you don't have to pay for MP, driver updates have become streamlined in windows 10 and tbh you should know that stuff anyway if you have a pc, it's quite easy, and easier imo than navigating the shitty menus on consoles (But thats just my opionon and not a hard fact)

You can use big picture :) to make it very easy to play pc games from a console viewpoint :).

Sorry if i sounded kinda agressive, i didn't mean to sound that way :). BUt yeah you are right it's a bit harder to get into pc gaming, but its a couple of night of work and then you should be able to have quite the grasp on it. And having knowledge of pc's helps in the rest of your work life. COnsoles games require installation for the most part today don't they? Steam streamlines that process.

But the only way i can see consoles being cheaper is if you really don't own a pc at all or use a 6 year old pc, or if you only buy 1 or 2 games for the lifespan of the consoles.

I think most of the good consoles arguments come from people not knowing a lot about pc gaming, and thats fine :) It should be a little bit easier to know your options on pc, because it has gotten a lot easier in the last 5 years

If you have the money, i would really recommend getting a pc, but if you are very tight on money and already have a console you enjoy, and don't really need a pc for anything else, it dosen't make a lot of sense

They are harder to come by, as I began to notice people asking about them. It seems like many retailers get small quantities unlike the standard PS4.

Amazon PS4s might give you the chance to get one, however, they might be asking for more than a standard retailer. When I bought the first run of the Pro, it didn't seem like they would make less of them. Or maybe they knew in a few years the PlayStation 5 would be announced?

Anyways, good luck. Also, I've noticed the Spider-Man version is still available in some places if you look hard enough. Amazon says it has 7 left in stock.

Damn, apparently this happened literally 2 days before I started shopping for one, no one had a deal -tried to get one on eBay for a deal and they never sent it.

Ah yes the illusive Japanese import, how can I forgot about those.

  • Because we all love to buy an import console with zero warranty
  • Reversed "x" & "o" button functions
  • Having your blu-rays locked due to region
  • All returns have to go back to overseas
  • PS4-white ($489) vs PS4-OG Black ($288) vs. PS4pro - ($431)

I get there was the option for this console, but the Destiny console is the only white one that met the global market.
u/AFrozenCanadian · 1 pointr/modernwarfare

30 second budget ryzen

ps4 pro

PS4

Same price as a ps4 pro, minor higher price than normal PS4. Plus little things like a windows key you can buy for $20, and whatever compatibility issues might have to swap some other parts out but I literally put that together in 30 seconds, so obviously I'd do a bit more research for a specific build.

All I'm saying is console level PCs are actually quite affordable and provide the option to upgrade if you want in the future.

Edit: swapped Amazon link for an American link cause I think the PC partpicker was in wrong currency but still very similar pricing.

If you could link to a comparable pc (new if you want to compare it directly, if you link to a used one I'll compare it to a used ps4pro price) I'll happily accept that link.

Doesn't even have to be all the parts, just a few would be fine. Find a 3 dollar pc cae, etc. Just enough to tell me these are realistic numbers. I was hoping the video would have links in the description but no luck

u/Pokedude97 · 1 pointr/PS4

Sorry for the late reply but I just preordered it from Amazon (the release date will update soon) and there's a Gamestop Preorder too.

u/krsvbg · 1 pointr/destiny2

That is still a lot more expensive than a PS4 Pro and it doesn't even include accessories for playing.

My point stands.

u/ParadoxicGer · 1 pointr/NintendoNX

Wait, what? Where did you hear that? Because Nintendo and Amazon had some issues in the past?

Other than that I can't think of a single reason. Here's "proof" that you can indeed pre order consoles that are not out yet:

And on Amazon you actually get the damn console compared to gamestop where they can just say: "Ooops, we sold out."

> A worthwhile gaming PC is easily twice the cost of a PS4 Pro

You sir are full of shit.
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-4-Pro-1TB-Console/dp/B01LOP8EZC/
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nBT629
That's cutting some corners, but well within you're specified range.

>What kind of gaming PC am I building for $499.95?

An entry level one, but it will still stomp a PS4 Pro into a thin greasy smear in terms of performance.

>I've spent that much on a fucking video card alone.

Yes, but there is no requirement to do so. You don't need to spend more than 200USD on a gpu to beat out the current generation of consoles, but spending a bit more is worth it as there is a really nice performance per dollar breakpoint around 250-275.
A console is usually a pretty good deal in terms of performance per dollar for 12-18 months following launch. After that, PC's usually close the gap in a hurry, and consoles don't catch up until the next generation of hardware launches.

u/23-- · -6 pointsr/xboxone

Have you tried buying one of these?

u/SeanMirrsen · -25 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There is a flaw in your argument. It goes something like this:

"This is what a real console looks like:"
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-4-Pro-1TB-Console/dp/B01LOP8EZC

Do you see it? :P

Your real projector consumes 200W of power, can never be portable, and can be used to reheat food in a pinch. Given that the Switch is, in fact, also a real console, I would actually prefer the projector that functions well with it, resolution and brightness be damned. ;)
