Xbox Live Gold One Year Subscription Right Now;

  • Microsoft: $59.99
  • Amazon: $46.98

    Source

    Playstation Plus One Year Subscription Right Now:

  • Sony: $49.99
  • Amazon: $49.99

    Source

    Both Amazon sources show a picture of the actual card when the price is in the top right as directed by the respective company.

    Conclusion: Microsoft's Xbox Live is more expensive than Playstation Plus when buying directly from the company, but is less expensive when buying from Amazon and waiting for a sale.
u/-CdG-Luck · 40 pointsr/Gamingcirclejerk

If you're going to jerk about consoles, at least get your fucking information right.

Consoles are NOT $400 anymore. At most, $350 for a new one. PS4 $349 [Xbox One S $299](
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-S-500GB-Console/dp/B01GW3GY3K/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1466543769&sr=1-9&keywords=xbox+one) Wii U $299

5 games will cost $300 if you don't have GCU or Amazon Prime and buy new releases, shit. I could pre-order 5 games now on Amazon and it'll be less than $250.

What the fuck kind of accessories are you buying that'll equal $100 - 200? I bought a fucking stand and another controller and a usb extension cable. Under $100. Double digits motherfucker.

Yep. Uh huh. 1 year is totally $150.

Amazon has also lowered the price to $39.99 now: Link

Edit: now Gamestop's dishing out the same deal

u/nanowerx · 25 pointsr/gaming

It is funny you say that because for a long time now; Xbox Live Gold codes from Amazon have been ~$3-$4 cheaper than PS+ codes.

And on average, amazon also tends to discount Xbox Live Gold to $35-$40 at least once every month. Also there is account sharing with the X1, so no more paying for multiple Gold subscriptions for a single console...which is why they ended the Gold Family packs a few months ago.

u/learningcomputer · 21 pointsr/Games

Honestly I think the anger at paying for PS+/XBL Gold is overblown. Compared to the other bills I pay, less than $4/month (or $4.17 for PS+) is practically nothing. If somebody can afford a $300-500 entertainment device, they can afford to pay 1% of that cost once a month.
Sure, it's a cash-grabbing move on the part of MS/Sony, but I want the gaming industry to be profitable for them because I want them to stay in it. I want their investors to look favorably upon Playstation/Xbox and prioritize them. I can afford it, I receive good service in return for my money, and we get new features like "free" games and dedicated cloud servers to keep the paid premium enticing.

u/felixmontoya92 · 21 pointsr/PS4
  1. Here are step by step instructions on how to game share with friends and family.
  2. PS Plus is usually $60 a year. However, it is currently on sale at Gamestop and Amazon for $40.
  3. The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, and Uncharted are a few of my personal favorites that I recommend.
  4. Some games might be up already but the vast majority are not. Here is a doc the sub put together with all of the best deals on games, accessories and cosoles.

PS4 has a bunch of free to play games (http://fraghero.com/ps4-free-to-play-games-list/ - and those are just the ones from launch). Unfortunately, you need PlayStation Plus to access those games. Fortunately, PS+ is only $50 for a year: http://www.amazon.com/1-Year-PlayStation-Plus-Membership-Digital/dp/B004RMK5QG

If you head over to /r/BeerMoney, you should be able to find ways for you/he to make $50 in Amazon cards in a month or so. It won't be immediate, but he may appreciate the games more if he helps earn them. :-)

The lowest I've seen Xbox Gold is $29.99(It currently is $47.19, discounted from $59.99) I just checked for PS Plus and I guess it dipped to $39.99 once, but there is less price history there (on CamelCamelCamel.com) (Currently $49.99, no discount). I would be surprised if either goes on sale for much below retail after this week, but who knows what crazy magic Amazon works?

I added an additional year to my subscription, which is now good till 2021, and I'm wondering if I should push it to 2022. People need to jump on this because PS Plus going for this price doesn't happen often, unlike XBL deals, which are way more frequent.

In reality, they are pretty much the same price:

  • 1-year PS Plus [Amazon digital code] - $49.99
  • 1-year Xbox Live Gold [Fulfilled by Amazon] - $51.94

    Even at list price, the different is only $10/year - that hardly qualifies as "criminally overpriced" to me

u/crazyguzz1 · 2 pointsr/PlayStationPlus

Yup - on the amazon us site, you don't even need to wait for the card to be shipped to you. They'll just email you a digital code that you can enter on your PlayStation. The same goes for PSN cash - you can just buy it all through amazon and never have to give sony any credit information.

u/chriskmee · 2 pointsr/gaming

Just go to Amazon and buy one of the "cards" using your credit card. I think they just give you the key and don't ship you anything, so all you have to do is redeem the key on your PS3 and you are done. Takes a couple minutes. It may not be as convenient as just renewing through the PS3, but I think its the best alternative.

If you see yourself playing those games for numerous hours then go for it. They'll be other games out too that might peak your interest.

As for the bundle, I'd keep an eye out for black Fridays sales and also /r/PS4Deals for sale!

For the PS+, you get free games each month (sometimes good and sometimes bad) that you can give a try and see if they're your kind that you usually might not pick up. I found it to be a good experience, but that varies depending on what you're looking for.

I guess your PSN account is from EU, you don't need to delete it, just create an US PSN account, you don't need a US Proxy. Then use your Credit Card that I assume is from the US too to buy a PS+ Sub on PSN or buy a Digital Code from Amazon (the'll send the code to your e-mail address, you'll need a US billing address, you can use a fake one).

If you insist on using your European PSN account, which I don't recommend since everything is more expensive in Europe, there are some options: UK - Digital Code or Rest of the World - Digital Code.

By the way remember that the game and DLC need to be from the same region, so if for example you want to buy a Add-On for one of your PS+ games from your US PSN account you need to buy it using a US PSN account, but if you want an Add-On for a EU retail game you need to buy it using your EU PSN Account.

You will be able to play the games (including multiplayer) with any account but I recommend using your PS+ Account since that way you'll have access to the Cloud Saves system. Remember to set your PS4 as Primary Console on your accounts.

> most people dont know how to do it.

And? Most people don't know how to install an operating system, I could teach a vast majority how in an hour. There are countless guides out there, and at the end of the day it isn't hard work. No soldering, or real skill needed. It is plug and play, like lego. Anyone can learn how to do it. I'm not saying people know how to right now. I'm saying it's easy enough a vast majority could learn how.

You're being ignorant to how easy it is to get into computers. I literally have helped a 12 year old build a PC through Skype. Lets not forget, Steam has more users than the Xbox and PS4 combined, by a lot.

>The only thing I have said that is exaggerating is that the PS4 is a high end PC. A mid end PC is more like it if we are talking about custom built monsters than the general population doesnt have. Personally I would call that ultra high end, because its out of reach for us peons.

Uhhh, so are you somehow saying that you cannot make a custom built PC with mid-range specs? And that this somehow makes the PS4 high-end?

That's not how this works bruv. There arn't differant classes of computers, either it's high-end, or it's not. Just because you bought a prebuilt, doesn't make it less-high end than a custom build of the same specs.

You need to keep in mind, that a mid-end PC would run games at average specs (1080@60), with mid level settings. A high end pc would either creep into higher settings, or higher specs (1440/144hz). etc.

The PS4Pro still lacks 1080p@60 on average, and this would not classify as a mid-range build.

>played Paragon and The Last of Us, they looked tasty as fuck.

Nice blatant lie. Last of Us runs worse on PS4 pro, than regular PS4.

Then there's the fact the PS4 Pro fails to hit 1080p on BF1. Even with dynamic resolution scaling, which can bug out.

>Show me a video of a £350 PC that has better graphics than a PS4pro.

  1. It's $500.

  2. $60/year for online play

  3. + Premium on games due to anti-competitive nature of the online stores.

  4. + Having to buy a new console next gen, with 'remastered' versions of your old games

  5. + Inability to use your PS4 Pro for everything in your house, and requiring a PC anyways.

  6. = Much more than you claim.

  7. I haven't made a parts list in a while, /r/buildapc could though.

    I'd need full software specs of games to even attempt to start benchmarking. You do understand that there's no way to change settings on the PS4 right? There's no way to tell what settings are where because it's all locked up. However, that 7870, $100 2011 card can run GTAV at 1080@52 as seen here, PS4 is stuck at 1080@30.

    To get actual in-depth about it, I'd need the PS4's .ini file, because if not I'd have to run a benchmark, compare it to a PS4 video of the exact same, then slight alter one of dozens of settings in the .ini file, then run it again to see what it looks like now.

    And here's a taste of the .ini life.

    <Shadow_SoftShadows value="1" />

    <UltraShadows_Enabled value="false" />

    <Shadow_ParticleShadows value="true" />

    <Shadow_Distance value="1.000000" />

    <Shadow_LongShadows value="true" />

    <Shadow_SplitZStart value="0.930000" />

    <Shadow_SplitZEnd value="0.890000" />

    <Shadow_aircraftExpWeight value="0.990000" />

    <Shadow_DisableScreenSizeCheck value="false" />

    That's just for Shadows in the game. Then there's the actual textures used. The PS4 has a file size for GTAV of ~50GB, PC is 15GB bigger.

    So in order to get a comparison, You'd need to get the raw files from the PS4, replace any textures with what's on it, then play with the settings, all to prove that PC > PS4?

    Bitch nobody's got time for that.

    You need to keep in mind a PC saves you cash in the long run. It allows you to run games on older hardware ULG mod for Skyrim, as well as grandfathering in 'last-gen' games, so much in fact I got the Skyrim Special edition for free because I had the original. so did lots of people. So right there I saved $60. PC is the long con, you save money and can get better shit because of it. If you're so blind as to think that a PS4 only costs it's purchase cost, you're a nutter.

Hmmm... it'd be a little tricky, because honestly, the way Sony has laid out their stuff is terrible. If you just go to the "Playstation Plus" tab, it'll just show you the prices, even if you already pay for it.

You'd have to go into the online store and try to download either "Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition" or "Secret Ponchos" (those are the December free games for PS4). If it asks you to pay money for those, he doesn't have it, but if they're free, he's already signed up. I'm afraid I don't have a PS4 myself, I'm just a huge gaming nerd, so I wouldn't be able to give you the step-by-step.

You're probably not gonna be able to get him all set up on the service if he doesn't have it, but you can buy a code for it in a retail store, or online, and he can set it up himself. Here's a link to Amazon for the year-long subscription:

Congratulations on your 6 months clean! Consider getting PlayStation+ and grabbing the free games every month. If you subscribe before Tuesday when they update with July's games you can grab the June games. I've been having a pretty good time with NBA 2K16. You'll need PS+ if you want to play online anyway. One year is $50 but there are sales sometimes. (You may have gotten a free trial in the box.)

My game recommendation is Rocket League. Lots of fun and endless challenge. Personally, I'm horrible at it but after many hours of play, including lots of frustration, I still have fun (especially playing "Snow Day" where aerials are less important).

u/FlyingBeefTaco · 1 pointr/playstation
u/canuckfanatic · 1 pointr/gaming

a) Netflix and Hulu do not require a PS+ account. He literally said that.

b) A yearly subscription to PS+ is $50 per year. Source.

c) The Xbox One requires a cable box for you to watch TV. It does not replace your cable box. The cable box will plug into the Xbox and the Xbox will give you a customized guide. XBL Gold does not include your TV service. You still have to pay your cable bill through your cable provider.

d) The Xbox One uses DDR3 RAM, the PS4 uses GDDR5 RAM. GDDR5 RAM is a form of RAM specifically for computing graphics. DDR3 is RAM used by any given computer for doing normal tasks. That means the PS4 has an edge in the hardware category.

e) The PS4 has a cloud service as well. In fact, as of 2014, you can stream games to your console and play them from the cloud without having to download the game (which takes up HDD space), which means no waiting. Even if you do download the game, you can play it while it downloads.

So as you can see, you are wrong on literally every point you've made.

u/MongoloidEsquire · 1 pointr/gaming

>$100 over 7+ years?

Yes, Xbox One is initially $100 more than the PS4. The current generation of consoles came out 7 years prior to the upcoming generation, so it's fair to believe that these consoles will have a similar lifespan. Hence, $100 isn't really that important at the end of the day.

>just like XBONE requires XBox live to play online... and it's more expensive.

I'd wait and see on that. Official pricing hasn't been announced for either console.

>XBox Live is $60 a year for Gold. PSN+ is $39 a year and includes a lot more than Gold offers.

You're assuming quite a bit. They said less than $5 a month for PSN+ on PS4, that leaves a lot of wiggle room. It could $4.99 for all we know, making it the same price as XBL Gold. Also, I don't know where you got that $39 annual subscription fee figure from, as it's selling for $50 on Amazon. I'm sure you can get it for $39 annually, but there are deals available for XBL Gold too, so that really isn't fair to compare the MSRP with a promotion.

>They'll be left out in that PS4 is obviously going to win this console war

lol I had no idea you had the ability to see into the future.

>so they'll have less people to play with

Oh! Wait no that's wrong.

Amazon’s Xbox One preorders almost sell out after just four hours

Xbox One tops Most Wished For Video Games list

>and they'll be paying more for the console and for the online play.

Again, if you have even an incredibly shitty job, $100 isn't really a very sizable amount of money. If you include the cost of the PS Eye ($60), it's only $40 more. And again, that remains to be seen in regards to online fees, but again, the price difference is likely to be negligible (at least if you have any sort of disposable income whatsoever.)

u/leesfer · 1 pointr/gaming

Xbox Live is $5 a month if your purchase a year Source from their website, bottom of the page

PS+ is $4 if you purchase a year, or $6 if you pay 3 months at a time Source from their website

--------

Alternatively you can purchase either on Amazon:

Xbox Live 1 year: $47

PS+ 1 year: $49

u/Frodo-Lives · 1 pointr/vita

Depends on your subscription. There's a 3 month subscription on Amazon for $17.99 or a year's subscription on Amazon for $49.99.

EDIT: These prices are set wherever you go. I just linked to Amazon because I wanted to.

u/delguapo · 1 pointr/Games

Couple notes:

Xbox Live will cost $60 a year. It will be $5 a month for a year contract, which implies that it will be more per month if you don't sign up for a year and pay it all at once. I think Xbox Live is either $9 or $10 if you're only paying for one month.

PS+ is only $50 a year so already $10 cheaper for a year paid all at once.

However, I couldn't find a source on my previous statement. I found one source saying that PS+ costs $10 a month if you pay only monthly and $17.99 for three month increments, though it was stating thats how it is currently. So, I'm not too sure.

No its not its the same amount on amazon right now.

u/ManU_Fan10ne · 1 pointr/gaming

It's on sale for 50. As you can see, the $59.99 (MSRP) is crossed out.
PS+ is for $50 MSRP.

You do realise that the xbox live gold is on a sale and that it's normal retail price is $59.99.

The PS+ however is $10 chaper, providing similar features plus the "Exclusive discounts of 10% - 75% on the PlayStation®Store", "12 Hit games for the PlayStation®3 system and 6 for the PS Vita system" and "New games added to your collection every month". I belive this makes the PS+ more affordable.

Just FYI, you can find PS+ gift cards for LESS than $50 in stores (and sometimes online).

^_^ So you can pay LESS than $5 a month.

A card it appears. When you go to check it, it give the option to pick up in store or to have it shipped. I thought that it would be a download code but it appears not to be. I know that Amazon does codes but they don't have a deal on right now.

Not sure if you have a typo, or misread what I typed, but currently it is $50/year.

You can also set a camelcamelcamel price alert (Amazon price tracker) for the 12 month digital codes. I just got a year for $25 last week. I posted it here when the deal was up but deleted it when the deal ended.

> Paying hundreds of dollars for multiplayer access and mediocre

Over what 4 years? $49.99, here's the type of games.

> The page clearly states that for the parts you buy, you are getting more bang for your buck.

Recommendation: Athlon X4 or Core i3, 1TB HDD, 4-8GB of RAM, R9 270 or 750Ti.

The AMD Radeon in the PS4 Pro (which we're talking about) runs 4.2 TFLOPS beats out the 750Ti's 1.4 TFLOPS or the R9270's 2.37 TFLOPS. And it has an operating system, so you can actually turn it on and you know... PLAY GAMES. I guess you could load linux for free and play Minecraft.

> Buying a ps4 separate with bf4 is roughly 490 with tax

Where are you even getting this number? It's 450 on Amazon, no tax. If we're including tax, why leave it off of the XBox?

PS4 - $400

Battlefield 4 - $51.77

NBA 2k14 - $49.99

Playstation Plus - $49.99

Playstation Camera - $69.99

Total: $621.74

XBox One Titanfall Bundle - $499.96

NBA 2k14 - $49.99

12 Months of XBox Live Gold - $47.59

Total: $597.54

Honestly, looking back at all of this....I have absolutely no idea where you got any of your numbers from. Never really thought to double check the XBox prices. So, congratulations, you could save just under $25 at this particular moment by going with XBox if you want this particular bundle of games and accessories with PS4.

Oh, wait. We should make it fair right? We should add onto the XBox the things that the PS4 has in this situation that it lacks.

XBox One Play and Charge Kit - $24.99

There's also the games that they would get with PS+

Crimson Dragon - $14.99, the same price as Dead Nation: Apocalypse on PS4, free with PS+

Crimson Dragon - $19.99, the same price as Outlast on PS4, free with PS+

Total Cost: $657.51
