Woo lets go! I don't mind the questions at all. I'm just glad this blew up on a day that I'm not so busy.

1.) I use the cheapo watercolors that everyone else uses. I even only used the brush that came with it. They're always the same, and when you lose them there isn't so much pain cause you're only out a few dollars.

2.) Haha no I don't. I really should but the thought of re-learning how to draw sounds so painful. I have a lot of people trying to convince me to make the switch but I don't want to have to pay for a tablet either. I have so much paper laying around in my house...

3.) I've been drawing my entire life! I started caring about how it looked in middle school. Now I just kind of do it. It's just one of those things that have always been with me. Now I only started using watercolors for the past 2 years or so. Everything up until that point has only been graphite and I never really did backgrounds either. I think that's why they make me so nervous!

Well, heres some tools I like to use and/or think might be a good choice for someone:

For sketching and whatnot this
pencil set is good.

Also Erasers and Blenders are useful

Charcoal pencils are cool too, but maybe not the best starting point. heres a link anyway

Oh, and drawing paper

I realize all this is getting expensive so maybe its best to get her this drawing set. The quality isn't as high in these complete sets, but it does gives her a wide variety of tools to experiment with. (including coloring pencils) The paper sucks in this set, so I would still probably get that separately.

The same folks also make a beginners set of acrylic here. Which seems pretty cool. Again though, it would probably be a good idea to get more paper. I've used this acrylic paper and it seems to be pretty good.


Also, If you want, it might be better to go for watercolor over acrylic.

Sure...this one I painted after watching this lady: https://www.youtube.com/user/angelfehr . I'm pretty sure she has a demonstration video that is pretty darn close to this exact composition and I tried to mimic the techniques she used.
