A general advice that I give to everyone with thyroid problems is to eat supplements since it can be a big part of how well your medicine is working. I tried like a million different things, diets and dosages before I found out what worked. If your body doesn't have enough building components, it doesn't matter how much t4 you put inside your body and it will have a minimal effect. Imagine that you fill a car with fuel but don't check any other issues along the way to the motor when it's not running properly. Maybe the fuel pump doesn't have electricity so only a small amount gets to the engine or a valve is not opening enough. In my eyes it seems pretty stupid not to check those things to when it's not working even though it should.

I'm guessing that you had less Synthroid when your TSH was 2.5, correct? 150mg seems like quite a lot. I tried it once and my TSH was 0 (68kg, male). I personally don't know if only Synthroid/t4 would have worked for me but I'm currently on a combination with t3 & t4. There is also NDT but I don't know it would make a difference. What did it for me was supplements (I think so at least but so far I'm feeling better). I thought that I had tried the important ones but what I was missing was zinc (and maybe selenium. Previously I only tried a B-vitamin complex and magnesium). Normally if you have a diverse diet with crops from mineral rich soil it wouldn't be a problem but that is pretty rare these days. It's important not to take to much zinc and selenium since you can overdose it (you can not overdose Vitamin B). From my comment on another thread: A cheap and easy method for checking if you have a deficiency is to buy liquid zinc (like this one). If you don't feel any taste or a weak metallic taste (that develops after ~10-15 seconds), you have a deficiency. If it tastes like crap or makes you want to throw up, you don't. Otherwise you shouldn't exceed the RDI for a longer period of time.
