I've read books that my friend in education gave me, and yes, they're heavily biased and focused on identity politics. You can look up Power and Privilege by Allan Johnson as an example. Take note of the language used in the reviews as well as what the reviewers themselves published, and you'll see where the echo chamber really is.

>You guys sound like Mao during the cultural revolution.

Uhh, no. Go be snarky somewhere else please.

Best I could find was this text book on the issue. Everything else I pulled was SJW blogs. X.x

You can check out The father of Spin
https://www.amazon.com/Father-Spin-Edward-Bernays-Relations/dp/0805067892
It's about Edward Bernays, Freud's nephew, who pretty much started it all.
It's not exactly a feel good book.

A more positive one, is what I read now.
Privilege, Power and Difference by Allan Johnson.
https://www.amazon.com/Privilege-Power-Difference-Allan-Johnson/dp/0072874899
It takes a honest and non-judgmental approach about the structure of dominance and how to see it and change it.

About suicide. It's kind of expected that she wouldn't agree, right? Her job pretty much is to keep you alive. There is this conflict of interest there.

I am not suicidal now, but I do get it. When the fear of living overwhelms the fear of dying, there is really no other option. At least that is how I feel... I have no idea, if it's like that for all.
And the world is very fucked up and scary.

I really hope you find another option.

Privilege, Power, and Difference by Allan Johnson.

I suck at summaries, so here's the description from Amazon: "This brief book is a groundbreaking tool for students and non-students alike to examine systems of privilege and difference in our society. Written in an accessible, conversational style, Johnson links theory with engaging examples in ways that enable readers to see the underlying nature and consequences of privilege and their connection to it. This extraordinarily successful book has been used across the country, both inside and outside the classroom, to shed light on issues of power and privilege."

Skip the organizations.

The personal is political. Change yourself first.

Read books. Apply the knowledge you gain to your everyday relationships and interactions.

Analyze media. Gain an awareness of how women are portrayed in media (TV, movies, magazines, newspapers, social media and the internet, etc.). There are stark differences in the way males and females are developed, displayed, and interact with each other.

Study the social construction of gender and difference. Understand the separation of gender from sex.

Learn about the intersections of social identities and the matrix of domination.

Always ask questions. Never be shy - we are all here to learn, and help each other learn.

What majority of feminists have you been talking to? Because as a feminist that chills with other feminists, there is a distinct lack of man hating. Reality is often different than its online representations, as im sure you know well. If you're particularly curious about feminism I'd suggest reading some actual feminist literature. If that feels particularly intimidating but you still want to get into social justice in general, an easy gateway book into the concepts and language is Privilege Power and Difference.

I'd also like to point out that within reddit itself there are plenty of examples of misogyny (and racism) and perhaps the fact that you still believe its rare is symptomatic of how culturally pervasive and normalized it is. If you would like an example just ask and I'm sure i can find something for you.
