There are a bunch of fun proofs in Proofs from THE BOOK (wikipedia, amazon), much of which should be fairly accessible.

Proofs from the Book might be the sort of thing you're looking for, at least in terms of structure.

The title is a reference to an old saying of Erdos referring to a mythical book containing the "best" (most insightful, most elegant, take your pick) proof of all statements in mathematics, and the best mathematicians can hope for is to catch occasional glimpses of a page here and there. He called particularly nice proofs "book proofs" or "proofs from the book".

This book consists of many short "gems", usually in the 4-8 page range, giving some of those proofs. Officially there's not too much in the way of background required, but some of them will take some thought while reading through. You might want to look at the sample pages and see if they match up to what you think of as casual/fun and to what you're looking for in terms of difficulty.

Oliver Byrne's illustrated edition of Euclid's elements is pretty.

For something more serious, have a look at Proofs from THE BOOK, a collection of 'beautiful' proofs, inspired by Erdős' terminology.
