I use mine a lot, not just for charging my vita, but for my smartphone, tablets, etc. It really comes in handy.

Here is a link to the charger on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/

I use the CTA Digital case. I also have the official Sony Travel Pouch for keeping the 3 parts of the charger, though to fit the Vita in there with the brick and USB cable, I have to take the part that plugs into the electrical outlet (the figure 8 cable) out or else it's too tight of a fit. Also if you've got Sony's official external battery pack, that can fit where the bricks goes in the pics.

I also have the following 2 cases made by HORI which I'm not using atm. The blue I'm intending on using with the Aqua Blue slim I'm planning on getting in July so I have both the OLED and slim Vitas, and maybe sometime the pink one if I want to carry games as the blue one unfortunately doesn't hold any.

https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B005WPFLO8 (Looks like this on the inside, my OLED Vita did move around a bit when I tested it out which some of the reviews pointed out if Google translate is to be trusted)

Planning on also getting this Smatree case for that Vita slim for holding the 3 parts of the charger and if I ever want to bring everything at once. According to reviews, all 3 parts will fit, but it'll be a bit of a tight fit.

Could get something like that, can charge cells/mobiles 3-4 times.

This thing seems pretty awesome: http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1371547154&sr=8-3&keywords=vita+charger .

I don't have it but people seem to be very pleased with it.

Also, you can get some sort of grip if you get cramps in prolonged gaming sessions.

The vita is picky with where its taking power from, It’ll only accept 1.5v! I had a anker power bank that was 2.4 and it wouldn’t accept the charge at all so i purchased the official portable charger battery for the vita and it works just fine. Pretty cheap right now too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006JKARP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517772043&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ps+vita+power+bank&dpPl=1&dpID=41CJmuKxLGL&ref=plSrch

If battery time is a big enough concern for travel, I'd consider picking up one of these bad boys like I did. I've used it while traveling and I've never run out of battery. It's enough to get the vita up to a full charge.

u/mrgermy · 2 pointsr/vita

I have one but it also doesn't hold much of a charge.

I use a different grip now and have been considering the portable Vita charger.

What's to troll? This link on Playstation's site has April 1st. Gamestop and OP's Amazon link have a release date of April 30th.

You really think Sony started an elaborate April Fool's Day joke when they announced this product months ago? Sony's not that clever.

u/UpsideDownAce · 2 pointsr/vita

I use the Official Battery Pack because it's way smaller than most external battery packs and it fits inside my PS Vita pouch.

Do you know how that charger compares to this one?

I'm curious as to which one would give more battery charge

EDIT: Just answered my own question by Googling. At 10,000mAh, the one you listed has more than double the battery capacity of the charger I listed (5,000 mAh).

For reference, the PS Vita battery is 2,210 mAh, so more than 4X the battery life with the charger you listed!

The item title seems misleading as some users have said it's only 1A, so I wouldn't chance it.

I'm getting this one in tomorrow:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H9BEC8E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also, the official vita charger is half off currently:

I was considering picking up the Sony one until I found I could get twice the capacity with two ports for 7 bucks more.

u/Gessen · 2 pointsr/vita

No worries. Here's the one I use. Works great! Also, side bonus, works for your PS4 controller if you're playing beyond the charging cable's reach.

The XL gets pretty good battery life. I average about 7-8 hours of play and 3 days in standby.
The only extended XL battery I've seen is the Mugen, which is both unnecessarily expensive and bulky. I'd say you're better off buying an USB charging cable and a portable USB battery pack if you really need more play time. I travel around with two PS Portable Chargers. They are small, very light, work very well for my HTC One, 3DS XL and PS Vita.

I'm pretty sure the available external battery marketed for the vita can charge other usb devices as well, so single purpose may not be a concern.

I'm able to game on the Vita off Wi-Fi for 5 hours or so if I remember correctly. Pretty long for sitting there constantly gaming. You could always get this as well.

But shipping is the factor as I feared so fair enough.

u/Vitalicious · 1 pointr/vita

It's not the voltage, it's the amperage. You need at least 1.5mA to be able to charge while playing.

I use the official PS Vita Portable Charger from Sony.

https://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8

It's not a great charger though, you can find external batteries with way more capacity than this one out there with a better price. When I bought mine it was only 10 dollars, that's why I bought it.

u/SirSwagATon · 1 pointr/vita

There's actually a real, sony released power bank made specifically for the vita. I mean I guess you could charge it with anything but if you want the real McCoy click here. If you have prime it's priced pretty well and has good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1458165275&sr=8-4&keywords=vita+charger

u/dannaz423 · 1 pointr/vita

Yeah I think there is a certain current requirement of the Vita, I'm not sure what it is though. Sony makes an official one but it has a pretty small capacity: http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/

u/Fatdude3 · 1 pointr/vita

$70 is kinda expensive. If it had battery extension and thumbstick extension for that price it would be ok.But thats very pricy now.

Also video of a working prototype would be better. Also an idea..
Grip looks like its quite thick. You can make a place for http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8 and it would be awesome.

u/SlobberyCargo · 1 pointr/vita

this is the official playstation portable charger.

u/massiveCan · 1 pointr/vita

In your opinion which of the two is better? I'm on the fence about this. If I get the battery packs everyone is referring to, battery doesn't factor in as much. I'm sure I will gripe about it when flying to India but that's another issue.

How did you feel with the difference in screen quality? Did you feel there was enough positive change to justify getting the slim PSVita?

*edit added question and corrected spelling.

u/Dedale · 1 pointr/vita

Mine was a day one purchase and I'm only starting to look at replacing the battery now. The process seems easy but first you need to find a new battery and that's not so easy... well, we'll see.

I travel quite intensively and my flights are usually between 4 to 10 hours.
I don't have any issue with the vita's battery as it is as I don't use BT and always put the plane mode when needed and of course make sure that when that I have less than 50% left, I charge it.

Also, if I may suggest, buy this. It's really neat. It can give you two more charges and it's small enough to fit in a travel bag / backpack.

I would say go for the first gen and enjoy. I don't plan to upgrade to the 2000 simply because I like my Vita as it is. We'll see for the next model which will be released in 18 months :)

u/klisejo · 1 pointr/vita

Maybe pick up one of these external batteries. They're supposed to be pretty good. I have a nyko grip and that does enough for me.

I'd rather drop $25 on a battery than dim the screen. Personal preference.
