I had the same realization early on as well. But then it hit me they are both sega games, and the mean bean machine was probably a ripoff of puyo puyo from the start.
Digital doesnt go on sale very often, but you can get new or preowned physical copies for $20 to $30

While I get your point (I remember being surprised at the price at launch myself), the game received a price drop at the beginning of the year and is now regular $30, even on the eShop. It's even cheaper at Amazon right now.

I hope that we don't see a markup for the Switch version like they're doing with Puyo Puyo Tetris, which is $40 on Switch and $30 on PS4. Link for comparison
