At $21, I took a chance on this one and have been perfectly happy with it.
Actually I have been blown away with it but I have been jaded by trying a few utterly useless optical wrist sensors.
It occasionally goes a bit wonky for up to a few minutes (readings of like 200 bpm) but it works itself out. It has a good backlight. I don't really use any of the other features like the modes so I can't comment on those. I've haven't had to change a battery but I'm only 3 months in. Waterproof has been valid but I've only tested it in heavy rain.
