I sleep with my hair up in a satin bonnet and it works wonders. It might look a little silly but the second and third day hair is so worth it.

oh man this is where I'm at too. I've cut down my hair routine on wash day to a half hour not including air drying but that still feels luxuriously long. But the top layer of my hair straightens out by day 3 and every refresh I've tried introduces a lot of frizz. It sucks to spend so much time (and money!) on your hair and it doesn't last. Here's a few ideas from my journey so far:

  • Maybe don't use shampoo for every wash? Have you ever co-washed with conditioner? I know it's scary and you think your hair is going to be greasy but my hair adapted pretty well to going without sulfates.
  • My curls have a shorter shelf life when I diffuse. They look great on day 1 but terrible days 2-3. So I bought a silky scarf to cover my wet hair when I leave in the morning and I cover that with a thicker scarf to stay warm as I commute to work via public transportation. Then I air dry at my desk at work (I know this is not feasible for everyone, and I'm more than a little annoyed that my hair isn't fully dry until like 2pm).
  • I got a dorky silk bonnet that I sleep that helps day 2 hair look a lot better. https://www.amazon.com/Qhome-Luxury-Satin-Bonnet-Comfortable/dp/B076JJP6HK/ref=sr_1_4
  • My hair also looks weird if I wash at night. I wish I could make that work.
  • Yeah you can try refreshing but I've never gotten it to work. This has been recommended to me a bunch of times (it's in the most frustrating format ever, an Instagram story). Good luck! https://www.instagram.com/marisascurls/?hl=en
  • Sometimes I part my hair on the opposite side to unearth some curls underneath on days 2-3 and I introduce a single braid behind my ear to help it stay in place and not flop back over on to the side I usually part on.
