There's nothing special about an SB powerbank, just needs DC out and the pro3/4/sb connector (and enough capacity for your particular needs). I have the QI and it can charge my SP3 2.5 times and my SB 1+ times.

I have a Qi-Infinity bank from my Surface Pro 4 days.. The funny thing is it won't charge the Surface Book 2 with the Surface connector, but if I plug in the battery bank with the USB-C cable, it'll charge.
It gives the slow USB charge warning so it's not really made to charge the Book, but it can do it in a pinch. I'm going to look into getting a better bank to charge.

So I'm travelling the world and working along the way. I'm just using my surface pro 4 and it's external battery (RAVPower 23000 mAH) for the last 10 months now and I just walked into my room to a bloated battery. I didn't bring the original charger as it took up more space. Now I'm afraid that I'll be running out of a way to recharge soon, it doesn't look like MS officially sells Surfaces in Colombia and being on the road a lot I rather have a new battery pack than just a charger, although admittedly I now see the use in having one as a backup.
I found the Qi-Infinity battery-https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0183UJ2SY) which charger can be used directly on the Surface Pro too. So that looks like a perfect option, not sure yet if they deliver here (in time) but I'll hopefully hear back from them about that soon. If they don't deliver or if there is a good alternative I can find in the area I'd love to hear about it.

Spent a month in New Zealand, I'm on my second month in Australia, headed to SE Asia in a couple weeks.
I bought the i5/8gb/256gb model and a 200gb micro SD card.
Battery hasn't been a problem, though it's no marathon man. Honestly, I bought a USB battery pack and wish I had just gone ahead and gotten this:

Not because I have had trouble with the SP4 specifically but because there are times when it's nice to get a boost and it'd be convenient to be able to top off the Pro as well. Since I'm carrying the battery pack anyway, it may as well cover all devices.
If you have an MS store nearby (or, hell, just a best buy or something), just ask if they can let you try one in your lap. They might have an employee model or can detatch it for you.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0183UJ2SY/ is rated at 3.4x the size of the Surface Pro 4 battery, and 1.8x the Surface Book combined batteries; about 1.2-1.4 charges for the SB given normal charging efficiency. At 615g, it's a bit over 1/2 the weight of a SP4+Typecover, and make the whole kit 1.8kg. For comparison, the rMBP13 is 1.6kg and the rMPB15 is 2.0kg. A SB is 1.5kg, so this would push it to 2.1kg - about 100g/4 oz more than a rMBP15.
I'm the type that gets battery anxiety when my SP4 gets near 50%, which happens way too fast (they really should make battery life a priority with the next one, even if it means a slightly thicker/heavier device), but the QI Infinity power bank has solved that. Works great.
It's a bit pricey, but I needed a second charger anyway so I just had to spend a little more and get a massive power pack included in the price.
