No, low random speeds. LTO6 actually is 160 MB/s, faster than most hard drives. As long as you're writing the data in "one go", Tapes are actually pretty fast.

Sorta. LTO 6 tapes are $30 for 2.5 TB of storage / 6.25TB compressed. They are definitely the CHEAPEST form of storage.

The problem? A LTO6 drive costs $2000+. And you need a SAS port (another $400 or so).
