I would've gone on a murderous rampage before I could ever finish this puzzle. Holy shit, I'd have such a god damn hard time.

Also, if you want to buy the puzzle, I found it for about $15 on Amazon.

So, as someone whose done some decently difficult puzzles, it may not be as bad as people think. I'm not saying it's not hard, or not time consuming but a lot of it depends on certain design aspects.

For example, the edges are usually easy for obvious reasons. Looking at the video it looks like the pieces are cut somewhat uniquely, this means that while sorting from color can be a little more difficult, though not impossible since the color probably won't change too much if you always sit in the same spot, you can also sort by size, shape, number of sides with cutouts versus tabs, etc.

Granted you're probably going to be doing a bunch of brute-forcing from there but if you really take the time to organize your pieces it usually isn't as bad as people think. That's coming from someone who finished this one which a lot of people seem to feel is difficult.

A quick internet search has led me to believe it's this puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/Krypt-Silver-Piece-Puzzle-Challenge/dp/B0009QXXB8

The silver one up top is called Krypt, and it's made by Ravensberger so it's actually pretty great quality.

Edit: Also white hell and black hell

There are a few puzzle types that make that claim. Another potential winner of hardest puzzle is the one that's all white, or some that are supermassive.

So let's combine them. 10 000 pieces, all white on both sides, with pieces cut so they fit together on one side, but then the rest of the puzzle doesn't fit together.

I don't have the post, but I think I saw the same one as you and I think this was the puzzle, because I remember the centre kind of turned into a circle.

I've also heard this one is goddamn terrible, so it might be up her alley.

Looking up "Ravensburger" on Amazon I came across a silver one that looks to be very similar to the one you have here.

Well, I do the edge first. I know that sounds obvious, but I don’t do the edge first with regular puzzles.

Then I sort by shape.

It does take some trial and error, but I start from the corners and work my way in. I look for irregularities in each piece and capitalize on that. How far the notch is in from the “corner” of the piece or where the notches create a unique square corner. How the bumps are strange on a piece. That kind of thing.

This one took me about three hours, on and off. It was actually pretty difficult, but when you stare at the pieces long enough you start to memorize their imperfections. Then when a familiar spot opens up, you remember the piece.

That sounds really convoluted. Apologies.

If you’re interested in a challenge, you should try one of the Krypt puzzles by Ravensburger . They’re easier because the pieces are completely distinct. This one is more difficult because each of the pieces is only the tiniest bit different.

I'm currently working on this thing....http://www.amazon.com/Krypt-Silver-Piece-Puzzle-Challenge/dp/B0009QXXB8

It's silly but I'm enjoying the challenge.

This puzzle from Ravensburger was truly maddening. I ended up taking a couple weeks break from it because it was so difficult. However, the feeling of completing it is true triumph unlike ever before. It's only 654 pieces but it's a doozy. Good luck if you dare.

This is the only metallic puzzle I know...
