That is my opinion as it is the one I liked the best. I have been gaming exclusively with it lately in order to push it to high temps/stress to make sure nothing is wrong with it while still returnable. The 1060 gpu does great with games like R6 Siege (both 1080p and my 1440p monitor). It can also play Ghost Recon Wildlands well at 1080p, but can't really push my 1440p display.

My long term usage plan will be to mainly use this as a work machine (vpn connections into VM's) along with a gaming machine when traveling for work. I have a gaming desktop that I will soon go back to using at the house.

Like I said I ended up getting mine open box from Amazon Warehouse Deals since the price was around 25% off and you have the ability to ship it back for free if anything is wrong with it.

Here is a link to their stock for the 512gb 1080p model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01N9SSQ9E/

If I was buying new I would have gotten from the Microsoft store as their student discount gives 10% off. Just google "microsoft store student discount" and you should be able to find a link that lets you pick a school for the savings. They give free shipping and free returns to either a physical store or through mail.

If you have any other questions feel free to message me. Also one thing to note is that you cannot turn the green logo light off on the 1080p model. I ended up getting a black matte Dbrand skin that hides the logo. I only did this because I work in a corporate environment and being I use this for work I figured it would be unprofessional in meetings. I used dbrand.com/linus to give Linus Tech Tips credit as they have done some great Blade reviews. Linus uses the 4k touchscreen model.

How about the Razer RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 Blade 14" HD Gaming Laptop, 7th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD.

:-) your welcome I understand the feeling, the first one I want you to take a look at is the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-230 15.6 Thin and Light Gaming Laptop its 3.96lbs and here are the specs

Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ (2.8-3.8GHz)(one of the latest processors around

Graphics Card: NVIDIA's GTX 1060 6G GDDR5(run all your games above in high settings easily)

RAM: 16GB (8GB x2) DDR4 2400MHz

Hard Drive: 256GB SSD (PCIE Gen3x4) + 2TB (SATA) 5400rpm

or you could also take a look at the Razer Blade (GeForce GTX 1060) 14" HD Gaming Laptop which is 4.2lbs a little info too gaming is going to always take a lot of of the battery so when gaming to maximum you would get it 3-4 hours when gaming on the battery but if your just doing school work you are expected to get up to 7-9hours out of them:-)

For the Razer Blade,
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N9SSQ9E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511599801&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=razer+blade+14&dpPl=1&dpID=41txxineqcL&ref=plSrch
That is probably your best bet.
Its around a $100 more than your budget and if you look around you might find one for less. Hope this helps!

Your prices are a bit high priced considering

1: From studio Closure

2: used or been already unopened

3: you can find this models cheaper or equally.

This Razer Blade with the GTX 1060 graphics card and powerful 7th gen i7 quad core processor would be a very decent pick for you. It certainly would be a much better pick than the Mac where performance power is concerned and will do a better job at editing videos as well as gaming. It does have a very good build quality , a decent battery life, excellent display quality and of course, everybody loves its slim sexy design. Because of its very slim form factor, it's cooling is not the very best. Another very good option is this Gigabyte Aero 14Wv7-BK4 that is actually cheaper than the Razer, have similar build quality, similar specs but a little better heat management and an higher resolution display. The Aero is also a little lighter and at the same time, slightly thicker than the Razer.

Hmm.

Have you look at laptops such as the Razer Blade

  • GeForce GTX 1060 14" HD Gaming Laptop
  • 7th Gen Intel Core i7,
  • 16GB RAM,
  • 512GB SSD

The aluminum chassis provides a reliable build quality and you also get an IPS display for wide viewing angles. I didn't select a more expensive laptop as you want a thin laptop. Your budget does support graphics card like the gtx 1070 but in small form factor laptops it doesn't work out very well in terms of cooling

Unstoppable CPU Fan noise was on late 2016 14 (Skylake version), but solved through Bios update, the Kabylake one silent in idle, yes Fan a bit scream on AAA titles gaming but other thin gaming notebook like Aero 14, 15, MSI phantom pro are also same loud, you can setting the Fan to cool mode or uV ing CPU if you are uncomfortable with it, it could reduce the noise.
Heating? You mean thermals throttling or overheating? I never had in 3 months owning it and almost everyday using it for gaming like wildlans, Nier, ME Andromeda and other CPU&GPU demanding games, all on high setting, my max temperature CPU 81, GPU 79, but there are some other users reporting their temp reach 100 though, maybe a faulty product. You can buy it in MS store or from amazon if you're in Australia or North America, Razer store, or 3rd party seller.

I appreciate everything you guys have said, I was looking around on amazon and found this Laptop would this be something good? Good SSD, good GPU for fast bruteforce, and small and compact. Let me know what you guys think

u/Michiganders · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Your best option is probably the Gigabyte Aero 14 just because it has an excellent combination of battery life, portability, and power. It comes with a Quad Core i7 processor, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD and a GTX 1060 graphics card. It also has a large 90Wh battery that should last up to 8 or so hours of light use, and it weighs in at 4.2 lbs.

You could also consider the Razer Blade which is a bit more famous, but it doesn't have as long of a battery life.

Other options to consider are the Alienware 13 (although I don't recommend it), the XPS 15 or the Gigabyte Aero 15. Both of those are 15.6" laptops, but with thin bezels to give them a form factor of most 14" laptops.

If you're looking for more suggestions or are interested in getting a better idea of options on the market, I suggest taking a look at my Laptop Suggestion Guide. Best of luck!

First of all some things to point out.

  • On Amazon. Pay the $10/month for Amazon Prime, then cancel the monthly subscription, make sure to say "Keep benefits and End subscription". This way you get free- 2-day shipping for a whole month and hassle free returns. If anything goes wrong, return shipping is fast and free, as soon as Amazon Warehouse gets the defective item they will ship a new one out to replace you (within 30 days of purchase).

  • Many horror stories from buying off Razer Store. Personally haven't had issues as I got my Razer Man of War from Razer Zone, I have had no issues. I even though I bought it on the day it was released, I treat it like a toy. Headband still as strong as a Sol Republic Anti break Headband.

  • Just for your reference, on Amazon in late-2016 I bought my Razer Blade 14" GTX1060, i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, with a 512GB NVME SSD for $1999 + $183 TAX and 2-Day Prime Free Shipping. The exact same blade now costs $2,199.00 (Does not include TAX). The more recent Blade 14" i7-7700HQ (more CPU efficient) is $2,089.00 (does not include tax). So compare prices when Shopping. Max storage is 512GB.

  • There is a 4K Touchscreen RazerBlade 14" 512GB ($2,399.00) and a 4K Touchscreen RazerBlade 17" 512GB ($3,999.00). Both have a Maximum screen resolution of 3860x2160 pixels which sounds perfect if you want smooth scaling.

  • You can reduce the price for a few hundred bucks if you reduce the 512GB to either a 256GB SSD but i don't recommend it. It is possible to upgrade the M.2 NVME SSD, but it's much cheaper to have it in the same package rather than buy seperately.

  • Don't misunderstand, the Razer Stealth is amazing if all you are doing is "light" coding and Internet Browsing. I mean hell, it'd make a great back-to-school gift for pretty much any class if you don't game on it. Amazon lists it at $1399 for a Core i7-7500U (7th gen) with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB NVME SSD.

Cool Stuff if you wanna compare the i7-6700HQ versus the i7-7700U. TL;DR: i7-6700HQ is great for multitasking and multithreaded applications. The i7-7700U is good for single threaded performance.

The dual core is great for low intensive computing. But the bottleneck is real.

If there's any thing I learned from my days of coding, a good CPU and lots of RAM goes a long way. CPU allows the code to be crunched faster and the RAM gives more buffer room for more things to happen in memory. Though the RAM is just there as buffer to keep the code from crashing the comp.

Either way, happy shopping. I love my Razer Blade 14" and i plan on buying a 1TB M/2 NVME upgrade soon. ~$460 for double the Storage.

Thanks for this..what do you think of Razer Blade

u/LonerIM2 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Between the two this wins hands down but if you want the best of both worlds then I would recommend the Aero 14 because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking (upgradeable to 32 if you really use that much), Good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 14 QHD IPS 2560x1440 which is great display same size as the razer, high build quality, very good battery life (6-8 hours of battery life) (which is great for a gaming laptop), very light at 4.17 lbs and it is well within your budget.

its $2100 new and 1836 used. plus taxes. Also i have a 100 adapter and a 50 dollar case added in for free. plus you dont have to pay shipping.

Yeah, I wonder if the extra slots are available for more ram in the 14 inch

I was initially deterred from the RBP because of
[this test](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLgOzjRuWQ&t=27s
) The Macbook Pro is surprisingly quicker than the Razer Blade Pro 14 inch. The 17inch RBP monitor is too big for me along with the price tag.

The Razer Blade is the size and weight of a MacBook, which is completely portable.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9SSQ9E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2LoAzbJD1S80W

And the MSI GS63VR is a very lightweight and powerful laptop

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6QVR9F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.MoAzbGWB8M1T

And lastly, although it's not released yet, the Asus VivoBook pro is an incredibly thin and lightweight laptop that is essentially an Ultrabook

I just read this review which popped up in my email today. I was shocked to hear that these mobile cards can drive a 4k display? Wow. Still, I can't believe you could even see the difference between a 4k and 1080p display on a 15" screen, and your performance would be taking a huge hit for the privilege.

The article also mentions as competition:

u/jklemon17 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

The Acer Swift 3 and Asus Vivobook S410UN both have matte screens. Or at the top end of your budget, this Razer Blade:

u/[deleted] · 0 pointsr/razer

What you ordered was the Razer Blade 14 not the Pro. So if you want the Pro, go ahead and cancel. My suggestion is not to get the Pro however. That thing is loud as fuck. Also they haven't made a new version of the Pro this year, so if you want that one I'd wait.

My suggestion would be to buy a stealth, a core, a gtx 1080TI and a monitor. You can get all that for easily under 4000 dollars. If you need a portable that can do more than the Stealth, just get the Razer Blade 14 (2017) and the same set up I suggested. It'll still be around 4000 dollars.

Some quick Maths:
