I had no idea these things existed until recently. It works pretty good with all of the local channels, and channel 56-1 which is what the Dodgers games are on.
problem is you have a lot of VHF stations that you probably want to get so a Leaf won't do that great for you since its a UHF Antenna.
They do make amplified bunny ears antennas which aren't that expensive an then your next step up would be an antenna normally mounted in your attic or roof and just hang it in a window on the north side of the house or something...

this one would probably do really well for you and its not really big its probably 2 feet x 2 feet and the vhf rod at the top is a bit wider... personally I would just get this but since its in your house you might have someone complaining its ugly.. then you say well the tv picture is pretty .. and ...

but the lower vhf stations probably wont come in or wont come in good so ABC maybe not

I believe for my area, the channels are all UHF except one VHF. I'm using this antenna and it does a pretty good, or at least has in the past. I really didn't like the previous Clear QAM channels I got as they didn't have the guide stuff like I get OTA.
I'm not that close to many of the channels, probably 20+ miles away, I'm only really close to my local PBS station.
I sure wish local channels would stream their stations online!

I have a RCA indoor one setup next to my upstairs TV with a splitter linking it to the adjacent tv downstairs to the family room TV.
Upstairs TV gets 5 channels with CBS being the main one, the downstairs TV picks up about 15 channels with CBS and NBC being the main ones.
This is using the receivers built into the TV's so I'm thinking that might be the issue, could also be the ancient splitter, also the lack of line of site to anything.
The next task for me is to invest in a outdoor unit and then re-purpose the old Direct TV mounting gear to see what I get. Its on the wrong side of the house according to the antenna maps, but it should be better than nothing and might give me something I didnt get before.

I have this RCA amplified antenna. Seems to work OK but takes up a lot of space because I have the antennas fully extended.
