I don't remember much discussion of siting and comparing pros and cons of different renewable generation technologies, but Renewable and Efficient Electric Power Systems by Stanford professor Gil Masters.

If you're interested in learning more about how the grid works in an intuitive way that shows some of the math but focuses on building conceptual understanding, Electric Power Systems: A Conceptual Introduction by UC Berkeley professor Sascha von Meier is great too.

Some overlap between the two books, but not much. I took Prof. von Meier's two-semester Power Systems series, and we used her book for the first semester and Masters for the second. You could probably read them in the opposite order without a problem, though.
