I'm using the Ringke Fusion-X which feels grippy and protective but has a clear acrylic back which still shows off the shiny blue back.
The back (and front) are gorilla glass so I wouldn't really worry about scratches. Dropping/shattering are the bigger issues.
I'm extremely careful with my phones and basically never drop them, but I want them to last for years so I would never risk being without a case. I don't even like how phones feel without cases - they're way too slippery and difficult to hold. (My old Nexus 6P was the same way)

As someone who hates seeing fingerprints everywhere, i recommend this.

The most common one I've seen people talk about is the Spigen one, but it's only up for preorder so no idea when it'll be actually released. There is one that comes up on a few sites by Ringke. That Olixar one looks pretty good and the screen protector is a bonus. Case options actually had me second guessing my color choice for a bit - I'm waiting on my Nebula Blue but most cases are black which defeats the purpose of having a unique color, so I'll have to wait for some more options or get that hideous Ringke as a temporary measure.

Had this for the Pocophone (prior to returning phone for obvious reasons).
Not sure about the Karbon, don't own it. But the case linked below is the one I'm using and the screen protector fits very well with that.
