A Gelid CA-PWM-02 PWM Fan Adapter and a Rosewill PWM Fan Splitter Cable. After that, it's smooth sailing.

Be brave! It's a GREAT time to build a PC! It's just a really crappy time to pay for the parts. Good luck, you'll have a blast.

Order a set of these. Gotta be the number one annoyance when building. Maybe one of these too. They're cheap and handy.

Hitachi's drive business (HGST) is now owned by Western Digital, and yet HGST drives still substantially outperform WD for reliability and cost less. That's gotta be awkward at the company Christmas party.

The 860 EVO is a newer model SSD than the 850 EVO. Longer life, etc., and costs a bit less. If you're lazy like me, get the M.2 version rather then the 2.5" so it mounts directly to the motherboard rather than having to muck round running power/sata to the drive.

Good choice on getting the full version of Windows rather than the OEM version. The potential headaches aren't worth the $30 difference.

I got the H200 because I already had LED strips, didn't want to use CAM, and could just use $4 case fan splitter cables instead of NZXT's Grid/Hue+. I'd rather control my fans through BIOS anyways.

Just get this for your fans if you're going to use the full fan capacity of the case, but you won't need any if you only use the preinstalled ones. And of course if the mobo doesn't come with any. If the mobo come with one splitter, just buy the one pack of this:

Not totally sure for Vega 64, but on NVIDIA cards you need an adapter cable to connect the fans to the card.

[SOLVED] I need a fan splitter that allows two of my fans to be RPM controlled by the MOBO I am currently using this one but only lets the fans run at 100%, and not be RPM controlled. Any suggestions (preferably black sleeved, but I'll take anything)


EDIT: I'm using the built-in "ASUS Fan Xpert" to control the 3pin fans.

EDIT2: Thanks Neverlife for the suggestion. It seems the BIOS was affecting the fans. After running the fan utility in UEFI all works well and dandy.

Just remove the plastic and slap 2x 120mm higher static pressure fans on the card with zip ties as it was already mentioned, then you can get

A 360mm radiator like the H150i will not fit in the s340 elite case. 240mm or smaller only. You say the H150i first and then you say the H115i Pro so I don't know which you actually have.

The other commenter has posted a diagram for your motherboard and your fans will fit easily. The fans use a standard fan connector. According to the specs on ASUS website your board has 3 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (3 x 4 -pin). If you aren't using any of them now, you can power up to 3 off of the motherboard. You can also use a splitter to power more fans off of one port, like this one

I bought two 4 pin case fans (Be quiet Silent Wings 3). I am going to get a fan splitter with a 3 pin motherboard header. I'm don't know where to plug my 3 pin on my motherboard but I just want to make sure. My motherboard (Asus ROG strix x470 itx) has this part labeled "CPU fan" it is not clear to me if it mean the pins to the left or right of the label. Either way I was able to plug in my CPU cooler fan onto the left 4 pin header, so it is occupied right now. The one towards the right is kind of weird looking. It has 3 pins on top and 2 pins on the bottom with an empty space in the bottom middle, so like a 5 pin if that's what you call it. The problem is this does not have that kind of black tab guiding slot up top, and I know the 3 pin fan splitter does have this guiding slot on the plug. There are two AIO pump 4 pins that I plugged my fans into atm but I don't think this is right, as I read that they give my fans 100% power all the time and atm the fans seem to be spinning at max speed all the time. I am not sure where on my motherboard to plug the 3 pin of the fan splitter.

I would go with one commander pro and a PWM y-splitter (example), so you run two of the fans off the same header.

You could also use any powered PWM fan hub (example) and plug it into the PSU (for power) and motherboard (for fan control), if the PSU has a spare molex- or SATA power connector and the mobo has a spare fan header. You can't use iCue to control fan speeds here; instead you'll use BIOS, or the motherboard fan control software, or third-party software like SpeedFan.

That's for controlling fan speed, assuming you know how to set up the RGB part.

Ok If leaving the side of your case off solves your overheating (DUST IT OUT ALSO), here is a bit of a shopping list

2x AF 120 for the fans $34 at frys. 25 on amazon


CX 550 Power Supply(Fry's PSU selection seems to suck) $50

Fan Splitter $5. I think you only have 1 fan power header on your mobo, this allows both to be attached to a single header.

Now all that is useful if you decide to start from scratch in the future, so if you were going for a all new build, you would be buying that anyways.

GPU's all appear to be sold out/super inflated price a FRYs. See how your's does with proper cooling. Or see how a 1050 Ti works for games you want to play (read forums/reddit related to that game)

I have an Asus Prime Z370a with 5 fan headers and four 3pin fans. The problem is I can only control a max of 3 fans in my BIOS Qfan settings.

Chassis fan 1, chassis fan 2, and the M.2 fan headers are the only ones that can control 3pin fans. The Optional Cpu fan header and AIO pump header keeps my fan running at max rpm.

Is there software to control my last fan currently plugged into the OPT_CPU header?

Is buying this y splitter my only solution? Will my Qfan curve setting be able to control both fans at the same time?

  1. The computer case comes with everything. You just have to plug the fan cable into the motherboard's CHA_FAN1 or 2 slot.

  2. The mobo can control independently two case fans. I'm guessing you bought two case fans because you plan to replace the rear fan?
    If not and you were actually planing to have three case fans, you need a splitter cable to plug two case fans in one CHA_FAN slot. Try to avoid negative pressure inside the case.

  3. The motherboard comes with one or two SATA data cables; that's it. It's Corsair's job to provide what's necessary with the computer case or with the case fans.

  4. Yes, you can have a GTX 1070 if you want: the case is big enough and the power supply can provide enough power.

  5. Preferably, try to use dual channel RAM. All the RAM modules should have the same specs. If not, they'll function at the lowest common speed or at least it should. In practice, some motherboards just refuse to post.
    In general, when the mobo has 4 RAM slots, you can afford to buy 2x4GB and upgrade later with another 2x?GB in the future if you judge it necessary. When the mobo only has two RAM slots, it's common to buy 1x8GB and leave the other slot free in case you need it.
    Since you already got 1x8GB, get another 1x8GB (check the manual to know where to place them for dual channel mode).
